    Vic Carucci Power Rankings

    In the hunt
Teams that look good enough to be among the 12 playoff qualifiers, but not based on conference.
    Rank Team Record Prv. Comment
    1. Dallas Cowboys 3-0 1 Explosive offense, strong defense, solid special teams, abundant talent. Everything you could want from the league's best team.
    2. New York Giants 3-0 2 Should have been easier vs. the Bengals, but the Giants were able to rely on their championship poise when it counted most.
    3. Philadelphia Eagles 2-1 11 The defensive pounding administered on the Steelers made up for the no-show vs. Dallas.
    4. Buffalo Bills 3-0 5 Should have been easier vs. the Raiders, but Trent Edwards showed once again that he knows when to rise to the occasion.
    5. Tennessee Titans 3-0 9 A strong defense has carried the Titans to the top of the AFC South. It could very well carry them much higher.
    6. Denver Broncos 3-0 8 Regardless of the officiating assists, the Broncos' offense is scary.
    7. Green Bay Packers 2-1 3 The Packers discovered first-hand just how wide the gap is between them and the big boys of the league.
    8. Pittsburgh Steelers 2-1 6 If Ben Roethlisberger thought he saw a lot of blitzing vs. the Eagles, wait until he sees what the Ravens have in store for him on Monday night.
    9. Carolina Panthers 2-1 4 Wasn't Steve Smith's return supposed to make the Panthers' offense stronger?
    10. Washington Redskins 2-1 -- Jason Campbell is beginning to click in Jim Zorn's offense.
    11. Baltimore Ravens 2-0 -- Who would have ever thought Joe Flacco and the Ravens would be sitting atop the AFC North?
    12. Arizona Cardinals 2-1 12 After their disappointment in Washington, maybe staying on the East Coast will help the Cards pass their road test vs. the Jets.

good for Vic, letting his bias show alittle :) he is as big a bills fan as we are after his time here in buffalo, and still doing the post game show. gotta love it because he can do that and justify it this year :)

Honestly though, aside from Tennessee who else would you put there at four?

Pittsburgh Steelers. They did lose to Philly, but that was a battle between 2 elite teams.

Pittsburgh's defense is great, only allowing the Eagles to score 15 points at Lincoln Financial Field. True, the Steelers O-Line is shaky, but the Eagles great defense also made them look bad.

Meanwhile, we barely squeaked by the Raiders at the Ralph. I don't think we would beat the Steelers if we played them.

As much as I love your spirit, it's WAY too early to be talking Superbowl.

All it will take is one loss, and the Bills will drop into the 10-15 range. Two losses and it's 15-20.

I think that the top 5 is way too optimistic at this point. This is a young team that has a lot to prove...we will go thru some growing pains this year for sure.

I am ECSTATIC that this team has come from behind twice in a row to win some games that they would have lost last year. However, I also think that they will have some games like they had for the first 3 quarters of the Raiders game that will last into the 4th quarter. In other words, the Bills ARE going to lose some games this year (Duh!).

In 2003. we opened the season with a 31-0 win against the Patriots. We followed up with a 38-17 win over JAX. We ended the season 6-10, including a 31-0 loss to New England (a perfect mirror image). We all thought after the first two games that this was OUR season....it wasn't.

All I'm saying, my friend, is temper your enthusiasm.

Ten (actually eleven, counting the bye week) weeks from now, if you can say the same thing, then I'm with you.
