Things I learned watching the game last night

    1. Nathan Gerbe looks TINY out there... but he doesn't play like he is at all. I saw him digging in the corner with the big guys and basically just playing his ass off... he doesn't stay in the AHL too long in my opinion.

    2. Max is still Max... within minutes of turning the game on, I watched him break down the wing full throttle, then try to out handle two guys, which he mostly did, then promptly turn the puck over with a horrible attempt at a pass.

    3. Timmy C was wearing the Captain's C and Roy + Pominville had the A's on.

    4. Lindy Ruff has told Lalime to expect to play as many as 30 games this season

    5. I missed hockey a lot!

Agreed 100%. He and Roy gave it all last night.

It was funny, because the NHLN guys said right after that play how good his backcheck was - when it was MAX who turned the puck over in the first place!

And Tim was STILL skating with his head down! It's going to be the death of his career.

And he can. Dennis looked good, but you can tell he needs time.

    5. I missed hockey a lot!
You and me both. April was just too damn long ago.

Yes, that's the exact play I'm talking about too because I cracked up when they made the back checking comment!

        I only saw the 3rd.

Max looked better and even drew a penalty, but I believe you about the rest of the game.

Gerbe does look like the real deal though.

I really only watched most of the 2nd, it was hit and miss with the rest of the game as I was busy with other stuff.

Perhaps if they were playing on ice that was more than 40' long, Max could have gotten up to speed and blown them away.

Ha... that building reminded me of the Olean Rec Center

I don't care what you guys saw. I didn't see the game and Gerbe is too small to make it in this league.

Playing an NHL game on the rink (even pre-season) was crazy. The Sabres should have played Myers. He could have played in the offensive and defensive zone at the same time.

The Sabres played a few pre-season games in Erie a few years back. I don't know why they never came back to do it again. Now I know it wasn't the arena size that kep them away.

At one point, the announcers mentioned the fact that Roy basically took one step to jump from blue line to blue line. I didn't notice it until they said it, but they were right, most of the players were able to do that.

I disagree. He showed a boatload of talent, heart, and grit (gasp!) out there last night. He _wanted_ it and brought it. I'd love to see a game with Gaustad and Kotalik crashing the net with Gerbe following up with the puck.

It was a joke. Those who post here quite often caught it.
