Sabres Gameday Prediction Contest

Ok, I'm going to run it this year...but I'm going to put all the rules up front so there can be no complaints.

for those who weren't around last year. Before every Sabres game, you predict who wins that nights game and the score in the game prediction thread.. If you are the closes, you will receive 1 point. Who ever has the most points at the end of year will win. Here are some rules that are up for discussion...

1. You must predict the correct winning team to be in consideration...IE...You predict Buffalo 4 Boston 3 but Boston wins 4-3...you don't win.

2. You must post your prediction BEFORE the game starts.

3. The closes to the correction score wins a point for that game...IE: you predict Bufflao 4 Boston 3 and Buffalo wins 5-2, you score for that game is 2 and you are the lowest and you win for that game...you can go over or be under to get credit. All ties will both earn a point.

4. If nobody is with in 5 points for a game, NOBODY wins...IE; Sabres blow out Ottawa 13-0 and everybody is over 5 points for the game, no winner.

5. Anybody can start a Prediction thread and I'll recognize it but it has to be within 24 hours of the start of the game.

6. If you guess the score dead-on with the correct winner, I'll give 2 points.

7. at the end of the season, 1st place wins 20000zbs, 2nd win 10000zb and 3rd 5000zbs. All ties will split the winnings. ( I don't' have that many ZB's).

First, this is what number 3 SHOULD say.

Well, I think you could be a little lenient with the start of the game rule if you want, but that would be your discretion. I know some people might forget and post it 15 minutes after the start or, like I did last year, post a score sometime during the first period after the Sabres were losing 2-0 and I predicted a win. (But that's just me :D)

In all seriousness, you COULD give extra bonus points for correctly guessing an overtime game or a shoot out game. Maybe a half point if you guess overtime or shootout. As long as the score predicted has a possibility for overtime or shootout.

You do enough begging of your wife that fails, I guess you did not want to add more.

Changing rule 2 "The Cleve Rule" to read: Predictions must be made by the "scheduled" game start...IE if the game is schedule for 7:30 but your prediction time is 7:31, it doesn't count. Not at the time of puck drop.

I'm adding an amendment to this rule before Hydro does something cute...Calling this the Hydro rule...

If you guess OT during your guess, you score must have 1 team score no more than 1 goal than the other. EX...you can't guess Sabres 4-1 OT....It must be 4-3 OT or something to that effect.

You can't make two guess as in If Miller starts Sabres 4-3, if Lalime starts Bruins 4-2. Your first guess will be your only one that counts.

Such as tonight's game, say someone picked Yotes 4 to 1. If no one guessed the score and winner right on for 2 points, the same rules apply for 1 point to the closest.

Yep, I have problems doing the regular winners and now you want to add somethine else. Somebody else will want to add something else.

What do you guys think about only letting one person pick a team and score and nobody else can for that game....IE YardRat picks Sabres 4-2, noboyd else can take that pick for that game. First come first serve type thing.
