In 1996, after the final Sabres game at Memorial Auditorium, Seymour Knox III gave an emotional speech about the Aud that included the phrase, "Farewell Old Friend."
That's the name of the event that will commemorate the end of the aud's existence, and will include the much-anticipated auction of seats and dasherboards from the aud. The event will be held November 15 and 16.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown announced Wednesday that there will actually be two auctions for seats. Approximately 1,800 seats will be available in sets of two, three, four and five. 700 sets of the wooden seats will be up for auction at the convention center that weekend; another 100 sets seats will be up for auction on-line the following week, which allows people who weren't at the convention center to bid on seats.
