I just read that Tony would be open to a trade, we're 3-0 and might be able to grab some talent because of we look like a winner.

I don't care if we go 14-6, as long as we win or last game!

If we got Tony, we would instantly become media favorites. But, let's extend Evans first.

I agree skooby lets make a move on TG, he still got a couples good years left and will give TE alot more help!!!

Gonzalez would definitely help, but he's 32 and entering his 12th year in the league. I wouldn't overpay for him.

I think the Chiefs would ask too much for him, but if we could get him for a 3rd, I would jump on it.

And let's not get on the trade JP for TG bandwagon. We may still need JP down the line.

I have not heard of this on the local news in KC.
Guys at work have not either.
Not saying its not true, I just havent heard it here yet.

I heard it on NFL network and they said the same thing as the thread title. I got this off the KC mb which was posted last night.

The topic came up Tuesday between an NFL Network reporter and a Chiefs official: Would Kansas City tight end Tony Gonzalez be willing to finish his career in another city, with another team, that had a realistic chance of winning the Super Bowl?
Reporter thought yes, Chiefs official thought no.
Then, the question was posed to Gonzalez on Wednesday and he set the record straight. While it might not be the ideal scenario, he could see himself going to Chiefs management and requesting a trade to a Super-Bowl contender.
“Yeah. I definitely could, but I love being a Chief,” Gonzalez said Wednesday. “But if it was something where it was going to take three or four years or whatever before they get this thing right, I think it would be in their best interest to maybe see what they can get and send me off.
“But I love being a Chief and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else at this point. At the end of this season, hopefully I don’t have to ask that. Hopefully we get this thing turned around. I’ve got a family now. I came here when I just turned 21, so this is home. That’s where I’m at right now with that.”
It makes sense. A rebuilding Chiefs team gets a first-day draft pick in return for a tight end that is only going to play another couple of seasons. Gonzalez knows what a delicate subject it is. He handled his answer just the right way.
But know this: The losing has to be driving him mad. He hasn’t won a playoff game as a member of the Chiefs. Nor has linebacker Donnie Edwards, who could be another candidate Kansas City could consider trading. If Kansas City can get fair value for Gonzalez and/or Edwards, they are deals the Chiefs should think long and hard about.

Hes a very good player, but i agree, I'd say he has 2-3 years left in the tank, max.

whatever he's got left is better than anything we currently have but I doubt we go for him .

A 3rd would make this a no brainer, IMO.

Agreed. He is a high character guy. And while he is in the ladder part of his career his an easy upgrade at TE, and another big Redzone target.

He would even be a better target for Trent in the med range. With him and Hardy in the slot and redzone, linebackers would have to carry a safety on their shoulders to avoid mismatches.

Anybody know how serious Edwards ankle injury is? If healthy I'd consider him an upgrade over Ellison.

I'd throw in JP and a 2nd for both. :D

But yes, extend Evans first please!

Imagine us being unbeaten and TG as another target for Trent, my god you'll be able to chalk up another 6 points a game minimum.

im not sold on this... so i'll have to say PASS on TG... he is on the wrong side of 30 yes he's an upgrade over royal, but bringing in a vet part way into the season can have devastating affects on team chemistry... which is the last thing we need right now

Ed
09-25-2008, 11:24 AM
If TG were a free agent and this were the offseason that would be one thing. But we're talking about trading a valuable pick for a guy that would have to come in to a new situation during the season. We've got a good young team with great chemistry. I just don't see the benefit in bringing in an aging vet right now that would probably end up having a lot less of an impact then people would hope for. It's not easy changing teams during the season. Those guys rarely make an impact, so it would be unfair to expect that much from him. So really the trade would be for next year at which point he's going to be pretty old and on the brink of retirement or becoming ineffective.

This trade might work well in Madden, but probably not so much in real life.

The Redskins will probably trade for him so that Jason Taylor has someone to pal around with in the infirmary.

He's a seasoned vet and should be able to learn the routes quickly. He's also a pretty good blocker. Good character guy should fit right into the locker room.

For a 3rd he's a Bill.
