I don't believe the Bills have an entire year to sign McGahee to a contract. If McGahee is not signed by sometime next offseason, I believe he re-enters the draft. I think he would make more after re-entering the draft (where he'd be a top-5 pick if healthy) than he would signing for the rookie cap room the Bills have at #23. They still have a long time to sign him, but if they don't sign him by week 7 or 8, I think Drew and Willis have the upper hand in negotiations.

Then again, it's a deep draft (but not very deep at RB- Maurice Clarrett is the top guy- he's a sophmore)
But He'll be coming off an injury AND a hold out- he just might slip to 23 or WORSE next draft.
Buffalo will continue to negotiate- it won't be rock bottom- but it wil be incentive laden. It also might be heavily backloaded- we could sign him for longer term (5 years? ) with the bigger payday in years 3-4-5. If he works out he will have earned it and Henry will be long gone.
