IT’S UNFAIR. How many of us did well in our first jobs out of college? Could you imagine if your first weeks working as an assistant to the assistant to the assistant manager were watched by 70,000 in the stands and millions on TV? It’s like being one of those losers on “The Bachelorette.”
That’s why when Pick Six chose its top six draft busts of all time, I did so with a heavy heart. Instead of seven sarcastic remarks per player, we cut it down to four.

6. Trev Alberts (fifth selection overall of the Colts out of Nebraska, 1994):
Unlike other first-round linebackers that embarrass the GMs that selected them but quietly go away (see: McCants, Keith), Alberts is on TV more now as an “analyst” than he ever was as a “player” (quotes around job titles are encouraged in journalism circles when greatly exaggerating a person’s ability).
It’s interesting to hear Alberts pompously expound on the virtues of what it takes to be a great player in the NFL. After all, this was a guy who had four whole sacks in his storied three-year career and suffered more physical calamities than Kenny on “South Park.” Still waiting for him to team up with Brian Bosworth for the sure-fire summer movie hit, “Stone Cold Careers for Overrated Linebackers.”
