Wow.
I finally switched to Direct TV from T.W. today, based mainly on my disgust over the CBS/TIME WARNER crap that extended into the football game Sunday.

To my surprise, there is NO INSTALLATION date in this local area until Nov 4.

WTF.

I still have to get switched to High-def (due my laziness) and now I will need to wait longer.

This is not limited to B-lo. Time Warner here in Wisconsin is feuding with WLUK, a local FOX affiliate which carries the Green Bay Packers games. As of last week the channel went dark and no Packer game.

Needless to say, the folks in this hard core Packer country are NOT happy.

I'm considering the dish myself. THe problem is, I'll have to find a replacement for high speed internet and land line phone too. What a ****ING pain in the ass.

I have a friend in Austin, Texas who said that Time Warner has now pulled NBC in the Austin area.

When I went to DirecTV and the NFL ticket before the season started, the same thing happened to me - it took them 3 weeks to make it out to my house, in an 8am-12pm window. Well, at 11:50 that morning I got a call that he was running late, I had an appointment, see you next week. I waited almost a month, WELL BEFORE the CBS situation (which is here, too, by the way). I would count myself lucky to try and make the switch today and get 11/4 as an installation date.

DSL is not a bad internet service. You can usually get it from your local phone provider (verizon, frontier). There is also satellite internet but it isn't worth the money unless it is our last resort. Unless you have FIOS in your area that is about it for internet options beyond cable.

I have Verizon as an ISP and it has been fine.

I am sure you could download your midget, sheep and goat porn with adequate results, meathead.

time warner only plays these games because they have a monopoly. Verizon is having a tough time rolling out fios to all the areas it wants to be becuse of TW lobbying. it's ridiculous.

in this economy, people are staying home and watching tv, and TW is making that hard.

Hell when I had DTV, mine went out everytime it rained and got choppy when it got cloudy. Time Warner has been great to me since I had them. Only one time I got a double bill, called them up and they apologized told me to pay just one of the bills and trash the other and gave me 6 months free HBO which im still enjoying. My TW bill hasnt changed in 5 years and it is still way cheaper then what I was paying DTV. Dont really care about NFL Network or NFL channels.

For a modest 59 bucks you can get a stick antemnna, park it in the corner near a window, and that will give you a whole new slew of extra digital/HD channels in the Buffalo area. (Assuming you have a digital tuner on your HDTV)

Like 24 hour Weathercast on channel 2-2, or the three different PBS channels on 43-1, 43-2, 43-3.

My nephew works for them in West Seneca. He's been informed his job of 8 years will soon go away. He thinks the local office is closing.

If your dish was aligned properly you wouldnt of had that problem. Once I see that problem at a new house or apartment I call them and they fix it for free.

The only time mine goes out is when theres a very bad storm. Im on top of the alignment of my dish. So it only goes out in very bad storms.

TW really sucks if the majority of this board is in agreement.
