Alright everybody.. Put your thinking caps on and remember some of our drafts.


What drafted player do you remember the Bills announcing and at that VERY MOMENT you were already pissed off? Perhaps more than once.

I'm not talking about how the player turned out (though it would be nice if someone admitted they were pissed about a player but were later proven wrong). Im talking about your reaction being angry the SECOND the pick was made. And who was the player you were praying we'd take?

For me, it was definitely 2006. I was playing poker with friends and watching the draft, and it was announced the Bills made a trade with Chicago to move back into the first round. I got all loud and rowdy, pumped up and literally started chanting "Man-Gold, Man-Gold". I wanted Nick Mangold and thought for SURE we were taking him. Marv came in as GM and said priority #1 was fixing the OL (which to his credit he later did). But, the name announced was John McCargo, and I immediately nearly threw up in my mouth.

I mentioned this in Op's Tim Anderson award thread, McCargo was Marv's biggest mistake behind extending Schobel.

McCargo was indeed an unknown to me.

As a Buckeye fan who watches every game, I had followed Mangold and wasn't sure he was big enough. DT Gabe Watson of Michigan went right thru him with ease and Mangold was only 280-285lbs. at that time.

Probably the worst reaction I had to a Bills pick the moment it was made was Roscoe Parrish. We didn't have a 1st Rounder that year & that seemed extremely dumb when I saw his size, in addition to all our other positional needs that year.
At the time, Tom D was overruling the scouts and making all his own niche picks. Thank God that era is over.

Understood, but I"m not talking about mistakes.. IM talking about a draft pick that made you mad the SECOND you heard the name announced.

The guy could've ended up sucking or being a star, but I'm talking about instant reaction to the pick.

Well, I didn't really follow prospects until semi-recently. In the past, I just hoped for a position and had faith whoever was picking knew more then me.

That Trent Edwards pick had me scratching my head. He turned out alright for a third rounder.

I have to admit, I was kind of pissed at the Whitner pick. That was back when I didn't really follow the players in the draft and I didn't even know who he was. I suppose he didn't justify the spot he was drafted, I was big for moving down in the draft, but he has turned out alright so far.

first one that comes to mind is when I got out of work and checked my phone and saw "Donte Whitner". I literally said "what!" out loud to myself and doubled checked to make sure I read it right.

Mike Williams...and hey I was right!

I knew he was way too soft to play they position, and with Freeney, McKinney, Shockey, Ed Reed on the board, we took the overweight slob from UT to play RT!!!!

The Whitner pick pissed me off alot at the time, I think Whitner is an excellent player but I would still rather have Haloti Ngata, hands down.

This is a good list. Cox, the third corner in one draft? Wright, the second RB? Fine? That one had me screaming wtf.

Flowers was back when I was just hoping they knew what they were doing. doh

Mike Williams I wanted McKinney or Shockey. But the one that pissed me off the most was McCargo. I really was hoping for Mangold.

As far as immediate reactions go, I felt this way about Donte Whitner and Leodis McKelvin.

Lex who did you want over McKelvin because there was noone there. The only thing would of been a trade down. Maybe they tried that??
