Double E's top LB's; an early round need

So we pretty much know Crowell is done as a Bill. That makes LB a top need. Kawika Mitchell was brought in to play WLB, but had to move over to SLB due to Crowell being out. It will be interesting to see what the Bills do as afr as the draft goes.

    For reference:

Strongside LB- Plays on the same side as the tight end, is used to shed blocks from the TE or FB and tackle the RB. Usually better tacklers, big builds, stronger.

Weakside LB- plays on the opposite side of the TE, asked to cover more ground, pass rush. Usually a bit smaller than the SLB, and faster. Speed, pass rush ability, and pass coverage are important qualities.

    Top Junior andf Senior prospects:

    SLB

    1) Brandon Spikes (Fla)- He can play all 3 spots, but with his ability against the pass, strong tackling, and average speed, I see him being a very good SLB. Hes the kind of guy that has a highlight almost every game. He has the attitude of a never-say-die winner.
    2) Aaron Curry (Wake)- hes #1 as a pure SLB, but I think Spikes can play it and Spikes is a better athlete and prospect. Hes very productive, hes all over the field.
    3) Clint Sintim (VA)

    Guys Im not fond of:

    1) Brian Cushing (USC)- unimpressive. He looks lanky, he gets too much credit. He gets blown back pretty easy.

    WLB

    1) Gerald McRath (Sth Miss)
    2) Sean Weatherspoon (Mizzou)

    Guys im not fond of:

    1) Marcus Freeman (OH St)- has not impressed at all. May always be around the ball, but hes rarely the first guy taking someone down. He disappears way to often.

Umm...Spikes and McRath are MLB's, not a SLB or WLB.

I like alot of people over Sintim too...Heygood, Mulling, McKenzie, Levy, Follett, Elimimian to name a few.

      Umm... more homework needed.

Spikes plays MLB but can play any of the three positions.

I think teams will look at his speed and size and pass coverage ability and think about him at SLB.

McRath is considered one of the top OLB's not MLB. Hes 6' 3" 220. If he was 240 I could see him as a MLB prospect.

I agree that Sintim needs to play better. I like McKenzie but he hasnt done much yet.

I keep watching for Levy to stand out but I see Casillas doing more. However, with that thin build I think hes suited to be a WLB.

Nope Spikes projects to the NFL as a MLB not as an OLB in any order. To move him outside would be foolish. Curry can move to the MLB posistion but you would never do that because his athleticism is too great. Most LB's can play all three positions if they need to but they all excel at certain positions. Also McRath is expected to put on size and play MLB on the next level. One of the best reference sites out there in NFLDraftScout.com and they list him at MLB, but like Spikes can play OLB if need be but since both Spikes and McRath dont have the same athleticism as guys like Curry, McKenzie, etc they need to stay inside.

Hall of Football is owned and operated by The Sports Xchange (TSX) which has provided news, analysis and research for fans and professionals since 1987.

Aside from that both Spikes and McRath are juniors so this entire discussion about them is prett much mute till February.

I dont really like any of the sites you used as references, I dont frequent many of them because they are not always accurate and I think they are wrong here. Spikes and McRath will play ILB on the next level not SLB or WLB, in order to maximize their ability.
