(April 29, 2003) -- Ravens coach Brian Billick spent time sharing some insight with NFL.com about Baltimore's first three picks in the 2003 NFL Draft -- defensive end Terrell Suggs, quarterback Kyle Boller and running back Musa Smith.

Can you talk a little about what happened with the Vikings?

Billick: Well, nothing in particular. They called us several times wanting to move back to get some additional picks. We saw things transpire with Johnathan Sullivan going higher than anyone anticipated [No. 6 overall to New Orleans]. It then began to shape up that some players might fall to us that were hard to anticipate, so we talked to them.

Unfortunately, Minnesota just kind of dragged its heels trying to broker too good of a deal and we just flat ran out of time. Obviously, Jacksonville was ready to make the move [to select Byron Leftwich] and then Carolina moved quickly as well [taking Jordan Gross], which was smart on their part. And we, too, reacted fast because we didn't want to miss the opportunity to get Suggs.
