The Chiefs are open to dealing TE Tony Gonzalez for the right price, but the problem is the lack of potential suitors, writes John Clayton. Kansas City is believed to seeking a pair of high draft picks for the future Hall of Famer.

The Giants would be interested after trading Jeremy Shockey, but they aren't going to offer a third-round pick or more for Gonzalez. Gonzalez would be a great fit on the Bills or Packers, but those teams don't trade often for big, veteran contracts.

Last week, the 32-year-old Gonzalez went to Chiefs GM Carl Peterson and inquired about a trade to contender. But unless the Chiefs drop their asking price, the odds are against Gonzalez being moved.

1. If they want a pair of high picks, it ain't worth it.
2. There are no teams that make many trades for high priced vets because trades are not that common. The Bills, having traded for Stroud, have shown they are willing to do so.

If the Bills are serious about making a statement that says they are doing everything they can to win this year, this trade needs to happen, even if we have to give up an additional draft pick.

He's a first ballot hall of famer who still has gas in the tank, and TE play is one of our consistent weaknesses.

This is a no brainer.. Short of giving up a 1st rounder, there is no reason to not make this happen.

I am not sure I would give up a 2nd either. He is saying he will only play one or two more years.

John Clayton doesn't have any real sources. He's always wrong on these "insider news". I will never forget he "broke the news" that Marvin Lewis was our new HC, when GW was hired only hours later.

John Clayton is the biggest ****** on the media block. All of his reports are pure speculation as no one in the industry respects his scrawny ass and therefore will never provide him with real inside info. Sorry, he strikes a nerve.

Realistically Tony G. probably only has 3-4 years left, 3rd and maybe a 6th-7th would be, ok.
