Sabres-Rangers Preview
A surging second line and a suffocating penalty kill have sparked the New York Rangers (http://www.newyorkrangers.com/) to their best start in 25 years. They now seek the best start in franchise history Wednesday when they host the Buffalo Sabres (http://sabres.nhl.com/).

The Rangers are 5-0-0 for the first time since the 1983-84 season after defeating New Jersey 4-1 on Monday. Aaron Voros (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8469672), Brandon Dubinsky (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8471273) and Nikolai Zherdev (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8470597) combined for three goals and four assists - with Voros notching his first career two-goal game - as they again stole the spotlight from New York's more heralded first line of Scott Gomez (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8467351), Markus Naslund (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8458530) and Chris Drury (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8460562).

while we don't look that great, neither do the rangers really...... we had a 4 on 3 and couldn't get the puck over the blue line.

They didn't get many shots but they were in our end the majority of the time. I am just glad they weren't peppering us with shots otherwise it could have got ugly.

Anyone else getting sick of Sekera's mistakes? Every game, he allows the puck to clear the zone with a weak pass over the blue line, and he had the stupid icing on the PP because he didn't wait long enough to dump it in.

I know he's young but these are basics that are the same at every level of hockey.

Also I don't like the dump and chase. We're getting outworked along the boards and not getting enough pressure.

They are stacking the blue line with at least 4 guys what else do you expect? They did try to bring it into the zone and got bumrushed everytime.

Great Great win. This really shows where we are at right now. Taking down a hot team even with some injuries.

I think you got through to him. He was excellent in the 3rd. Carried the puck out of the zone like a champ more than once or twice.

 He is a steal with that contract he signed. Too bad we didn't lock him up for longer...

Sweet! Nothing better than getting paid to watch a Sabres game. :D

I just got a new job at Dick's and we had the game on with the sound turned up.

Op you're one of my boys and all but WTF game have you been watching?? Sekera has been one of the best defensivemen on the team. IMO he is one of the most steady defensive players on the Sabres.

Without looking it up, I think the Sabres structured the deal so that when it expires he would be an RFA, not a UFA, which is a huge difference. I remember when they signed him to the deal people were saying what a good deal it would be.
