I am looking from a glass half-full perspective...

1. McCargo isn't healthy enough to pass a physical and the Bills know it. Buffalo then attempts to slip him to another team in a trade that brings us a 4th rounder.

2. McGargo isn't healthy enough to pass a physical and the Bills know it. They figure maybe he thinks he's in good enough shape to play and is just pissed off at the team and is expecting to go elsewhere or even force a trade since he is so low on the depth chart. So the Bills (knowing he'll fail the physical) trade him, call him out in the media, etc... knowing full well that the Colts will deny the trade and send him back to Buffalo.

Now the whole NFL knows this kid is lazy, and now McCargo knows that no other team is willing to take a chance on him... so what happens? McCargo realizes that his meal ticket resides solely with the Bills and perhaps he become motivated to prove everyone wrong.

Just my opinion.

interesting perspective....but IMO #2 is still a pretty big reach...

If he has any ambition of continuing in this league he'll do as you say. I thought about this also, Pride I like your idea.

How does he not pass the colts physical standards due to a bulging disc and yet he passes ours enough to practice? Overlooking stuff like this is what caused Spikes to aggravate his achilles.

So you are saying that the Bills who have always been known as a classy organization are now resorting to tactics like calling out players, and IR guys in revenge?

yeah, maybe a reporter should make sure that trent can still spell his name and knows what country he is in before he plays this next game.

McCargo back practicing (http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2008/10/16/mccargo-back-practicing/)

Defensive tackle John McCargo is not only back on Buffalo’s team roster, but he’s practicing today.
We’ll have further updates after practice.

Good.
im glad the trade didnt go through. If we dont release or IR him this week, he may end up being useful to us at some point this YEAR, which is more important to me than a future 4th round pick.

Man. Some of these theories get pretty crazy around here.

Whatever happened to the simplest theory with the least assumptions?

Example: The Bills didn't notice the bulging disk, or didn't think it was that serious, and traded McCargo because they wanted something (draft pick) for him instead of letting him leave for nothing as a FA.

Another "fan" dumping on the Bills. Why do you guys bother pretending?

DT John McCargo (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/401273) was not an abject failure as a first-round draft pick. And at age 24, he has plenty of time to blossom. But the Bills (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/67039) were finished waiting. And given the chance to stockpile a conditional draft pick, giving themselves dealing options in the future, shipping McCargo to the Indianapolis Colts (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/67048) at this week's trade deadline made sense for them. McCargo, the 26th overall pick in the 2006 draft, never was able to crack Buffalo's starting lineup as Kyle Williams (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/486829), a fifth-round pick in that same draft, regularly outperformed him. McCargo showed some potential with 45 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season but was woefully inconsistent this season. Appearing in four games, he averaged 13 snaps and registered two tackles. His coaches politely intimated their disappointment in his lack of drive and soft work habits. McCargo notwithstanding, the 2006 draft -- Marv Levy's first in his two brief seasons as GM -- will remain one of the best ever in club history. Four starters were landed in Donte Whitner (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/401237), Ko Simpson (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/401551), Williams and Brad Butler (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/401627), along with two key reserves in Ashton Youboty (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/401167) and Keith Ellison (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/401427).

Pride, you don't do things like this unless you are from the Tom Donahoe school of stupidity.

But I also have no idea how he could fail a physical yesterday for another team and be practicing with us today.

I can't help but smell something fishy there.

Does Colts really have a higher standard of physical than us?

I don't believing in conspiracy theories. However, I do believe that McCargo must had been offered in a package to the Chiefs as well. And I do believe the rumors that the Bills shopped him at the beginning of the season, maybe in a very small circle.

The most likely scenario? I think the Colts were in dire need of a tackle and in the last minute they agreed to a deal. But they checked him out and had more time to study him and decided not to take him. So they made a very hard "physical" to fail him and send him back.

This has to be a very humiliating experience for him, especially the Bills made him to come out to practice with his teamates (I said the Bills made him because he has no choice if he wants to earn his money as the Bills refuse to cut him or put him on IR). So now either he goes to wayside or really steps up and be a man.

I wonder if the Bills will make him active on Sunday - a guy who failed physical but plays for another team. It will be even more ironic if he manages to make a good play or two, something we all know that he's capable of.
