    Blackhawks fire Savard

Despite a 4-1 win over the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday, Denis Savard's tenure as the coach of the Chicago Blackhawks has come to an end.

The team has announced former Avalanche and Blues coach Joel Quenneville will take over behind the bench.

The Blackhawks made the move to let their coach of three years go, after the club got off to a slow 1-2-1 start.

"I'm disappointed but I guess it's the nature of the business," Savard told ESPN when contacted on Thursday.

That is so stupid. If he is on that short of a leash, why not fire him in the offseason?

I find it funny coming off a win.

I find it interesting that Quenville was hired in September as a "pro scout". I think it's obvious he was brought in to replace Savard, it was just a matter of time. Four games into the season is ridiculous.
