Ngata and mangold > whitner and Mccargo.

Id say, Whitner> Mangold but< than Ngata.

Personally, I was advocating for Cutler. I never heard of Whitner until his name was announced.

That was before I even cared about the draft. I only knew of Whitner because I liked Ohio State.

I think a bigger question is, who could we have had with the two picks instead of McCargo?

We really needed a safety. I wanted DT, but we really needed a safety.

Nobody, in retrospect we made the right move. People need to really lay off Whitner, he is doing exactly what the system asks of him. In this defense the SS is not the play maker that it is in the Steelers or Ravens defense. Reed and Polamalu live on the LOS, Whitner is constantly 15-20 yards down field and the fact that teams RARELY hit a deep ball on us, or even attempt a deep ball on us, tells me that Whitner and Simpson are doing EXACTLY what is asked of them.

And you can have Ngata, I'll take Stroud any day.

Only good ones were Cutler, Whitner, and Ngata.

Hmm...

Instead of McCargo I would've taken:

Maurice Jones-Drew
Nick Mangold
Daryn Colledge
Greg Jennings
Tony Scheffler
DeMeco Ryans
Marques Colsten
Marcedes Lewis...

Hindsight is 20/20 my friends, we made our mistake, Donte wasn't one.

On to the Super Bowl this year, and on to getting an OLB, DT, C, and TE in the draft.

Wasnt Colston taken in the 7th?

Nick Mangold is the only guy I was considering and wanted in place of McCargo

The Bills were obsessed with pass-rushing DT's as opposed to big ones and that is why they took Whitner and McCargo.

The smaller DT's couldn't stop the run and that is why they traded for Stroud.

They have seen the error of their ways.

Good point.

I can't even remember what pick we had in the 2nd round.

We really needed a safety. I wanted DT, but we really needed a safety.

Dawan Landry was a 5th round steal. His play has probally been comparable to Whitner's. Dawan's stats are better, but he's also had better talent around him.

He usually gets overshadowed since the Ravens defense is full of big names, and because Ed Reed plays next to him.

Whatever though. Hindsight is 20/20.

If Whitner wasn't the leader he is and Kyle Williams wasn't a good player, the Bills would be in a lot of trouble right now.

Gnata vs Williams is a great argument IMO and I don't think I would take Gnata over Williams.

To answer the question, I would draft Cromartie .

I recently went back through my old notebooks when I was really getting into the draft. The way the draft shook out, these would have been my picks for 2006.

1. Ngata
2. Darryl Tapp
3. Max Jean-Gilles
4. Elvis Dumervil
5. Dawan Landry
6. Marvin Phillip
7. Fred Matua

My O-line picks weren't all that great, but imagine the defense we would have right now.

Max Jean-Gilles plays for Philly, and is doing very well. Not too sure about Phillip or Matua though.

We needed a DT more.

We needed a DT more.

Especially when the Safety we drafted isn't a playmaker and is average in all aspects of the game.
