Packers re-sign Tyrone Davis and Josh Bidwell

Green Bay, WI (Sports Network) - The Green Bay Packers have re-signed tight end Tyrone Davis and punter Josh Bidwell.

Davis, an eight-year veteran, became an unrestricted free agent April 28. He began the 2002 season as the Packers' No. 3 tight end before becoming the primary backup to starter Bubba Franks at mid season.

The 6'4", 260-pounder played in nine games, starting twice, and was inactive for six other contests last season. Davis had nine receptions for 107 yards and one touchdown. He also posted two special teams tackles.

In 75 games in his career, Davis has 73 receptions with 13 touchdowns.

Bidwell, a restricted free agent, was signed to a one-year deal. Bidwell averaged 41.7 yards per punt with the Packers last season -- his fourth in the NFL and second with the Packers.

The Packers also announced that linebacker Billy Silva, a rookie from Northwestern, has been waived.
