They are very similar in playing style, except I think Trent is farther along than Brady was at the same time. Also Trent isn't a massive jerk.

Trent reminds me more of Montana. I think he reads the defense and gets rid of the ball quicker than Brady did at the same stage.

I hate comparing a player to Joe, in my mind he's still the best to play the game, but you're right.

Trent is actually a very nice guy and a very good QB and I'm so grateful that the Bills have him!

I really don't think Marv made that pick...let's not forget that Marv was basically a face of the organization who really didn't do much scouting or anything for that matter. He was there to put a nice face on a bad situation (Tom Donahoe)...nothing more, nothing less. Tom Modrak seems to be the constant in drafting the talent on this team.

No. He still hasn't won a game in inclement weather. That's the last question that needs to be answered (at least in the mind of the lickers).

Anyone who's still debating should take a quick look at the game tape for Weeks 5 and 7. Trent is the real deal, JP's a so-so backup.

JP isn't even a so-so backup. If he plays, the likely hood of us winning goes way down!

There was a certain poster on this board, who shall remain nameless (Op) who *****ed that this was a WASTED 3rd round pick who wouldn't see a snap. After JP's injury on Wilfork's dirty hit, Trent came in and did an admirable job. Now he's our starter, and I am convinced that he is one of the up and coming stars in the NFL.

He won a game with out a play clock. This ought to tell you how mentally tough Trent Edwards is!!!!

he can't throw 50 yards from his knees

what a carnival act that one is. i always rolled my eyes when i saw a QB try that one. I remember when Kyle Boller pulled himself from the 3rd or 5th round all the way into round one doing that.

I still shake my head about that, i mean he had just 1 year in college with a better then 50% completion percentage (senior year, he had like a 50.3% or something awful like that), why would anyone think he'd be any good in the NFL?

but then the draft can be screwy

Physically, he throws more like Montana. I believe that Montana was better at delivering the long ball.

not really... i remember montana was pretty mediocre with true long balls... most of his "deep" passes were some sort of crossing or seam rout that just happened to break for a lot of yards.

I didn't mean to infer that Montana was great at them. My point was that Edwards isn't as good at throwing long as Montana was. Pointing out a difference in the two.

you're probably right... Joe was probably a bit better... though in my experience the deep ball tends to be something that QBs get better at the longer they play.

I agree. I remember last season we worried that he might be a little too inclined to check down rather than wait an extra fraction of a second for his primary receiver to get open. I think he's striking a decent balance now.

I've watched Ferguson, Kelly, and now Edwards.

Edwards has the potential to be the best Bill ever.

He also doesn't knock up supermodels and leave them or cry to the refs everytime something doesn't go his way. I also expect that he won't be posing in any gay men's magazines with goats.

Just got done watching the Raiders-Jets game. The 1st QB taken in 2007, Jamarcus Russell is AWFUL. He flat out sucks at QB. The only throw he can make is hitting a WR wide open in the middle of the field. His vision, awareness, touch are so far away from Trent Edwards that it makes one realize that QB evaluation is more luck than anything else because everyone claimed Russell was a better prospect than Edwards in 2007.

Buffalo certainly seems to have found an elite QB in the bargain basement. There seems to be little doubt Buffalo got the best QB in the 2007 draft and they got him in the third round.
