NFL Players Association general counsel Richard Berthelsen said Wednesday he does not expect major complications in the contract negotiations between the Vikings and first-round pick Kevin Williams.
Tom Condon, Williams' agent, has said he might start contract talks by asking the Vikings to pay Williams according to the No. 7 slot in the draft. The Vikings drafted Williams ninth overall after they slipped two picks because of a botched trade with Baltimore.

"Tom Condon will likely start the negotiations saying the Vikings were going to take Williams at No. 7, and the Vikings will see they took him ninth. But eventually it will be worked out. I don't see another grievance situation arising.''
Last year Berthelsen and the NFLPA accused the Vikings and the Kansas City Chiefs of colluding in contract discussions with Vikings draftee Bryant McKinnie and the Chiefs' Ryan Sims. The charges were dropped after McKinnie ended a 98-day holdout and signed
