Isn't it time to stop pounding Dave Wannstedt like tenderized steak over this offseason?

Well?

Come on, folks, check how the new team picture is developing for the Dolphins. Brian Griese, as backup/starting quarterback. Sammy Knight, as safety. Derrius Thompson and possibly Oronde Gadsden as big, possession receivers. Junior Seau as one outside linebacker and -- pipe down about the draft for just a second -- maybe Eddie Moore as the other one.

It seems everyone keeps waiting, watching and wondering for the Dolphins to do something worthwhile this offseason when they're making several, functional steps. Again, this assumes Griese and Knight sign on -- and while Knight's market has shrunk, his Dolphins negotiations haven't begun.

Sure, Wannstedt keeps talking of returning 21 of 22 starters and sounding happy about it. But that's just his way. Where some coaches embrace conflict and controversy to test players, Wannstedt goes the other way. He prefers calm water. He doesn't want spotlights on decisions or issues to become public until they're settled.
