Live Steam Week 8

Something new for this week.. well not really new, but you'll need to download VLC media player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) because I am going to be using H.264 codec. Once you have my channel running in sopcast, simply open VLC, File>Open Network Stream, choose HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/MMS and beside it enter, 127.0.0.1:8902 and click OK.

*For Vista users, you might need to input this url at the top where it says address (in sopcast) if the channel doesn't open when you click the link above, sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/48856

*For Mac users, I'll post flash links for you guys, unless you know someone that will be watching the game on my channel and they have fast upload speed (2mpbs). They could give you their IP address and in vlc you would enter, their_ip_address:8902 *Just make sure they have port 8902 open in their firewall.

And hopefully we have no power outages this week!! Go Bills!

sometimes you can. But you may have to download it.

NO.. because you will only get sound and no video. Windows Media Player does not have an h.264 codec using asf encapsulation so you HAVE to use VLC!

Does this go on the air at a certain time? I'll let my dad know about it since he's in Arizona right now and won't be able to get the game, since his slingbox isn't hooked up right now.

No problem! Thanks for the feedback, the quality should look better, and now you can resize the window, leave it 'always on top', use filters and adjust brightness/contrast settings to fit your needs! :)

My daughter & I are Mac people trapped in a Universe that seems to not like Macs (or the Bills). I'm in Albany and she's in NYC. Sopcast is not an option. What's our alternative?

Does anyone here have a FiOS connection with Verizion and are going to watch the game on my channel? It will not effect your stream in anyway and you would be helping out some people. I'll even donate a couple bucks for your time. All you have to do is open up port 8902 in your router/firewall and private message how many people you want to give them your IP. They will just have to enter your_ip:8902 in VLC.

If there isn't anyone that could to do this.. then Mac users can pm me and i'll hopefully get you a link. :)

In the newer version of VLC, click "MEDIA" and then "OPEN NETWORK."

For Protocol, choose HTTP.
For Address, type in: 127.0.0.1:8902

Press Play.

I had to do some things on the server.. and I just changed the channel for the game because I'm leaving the house for a bit. It's back up now but please don't complain about what's on.

I had the same thing happen to me... make sure you copy and paste his address into the address bar 127.0.0.1:8902

Humm.. try restarting VLC, and you can also try localhost:8902 or your_computers_name:8902 or your_internet_ip:8902

It also might be your firewall blocking port 8902.. so make sure you have it open. And also make you don't start VLC until the buffer in sopcast reaches at least 80%.

Guys, please READ the first post, you need VLC in order to view the stream! Once you have it downloaded and installed.. open it, File>Open Network Stream, choose HTTP, enter 127.0.0.1:8902

Please make sure you allow sopcast in your firewall settings.. if you can't open the stream with VLC, open TCP port 8902 in your firewall settings.. or disable it for the time being.

I think this version of VLC is the best, http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/0.8.6/win32/vlc-0.8.6-win32.exe

It's only 9mb compared to the 14mb 0.9.4 version. It has the File menu also.
