BillsZone Exclusive: Winners and Losers: Week 8

    Enjoy!

    Baltimore 29 / Oakland 10
Winner: Coach John Harbaugh (BAL) limited his rookie QB this week and really gave his offense the chance to play well. Harbaugh’s Ravens ran the ball 46 times Sunday, opening up the offense for QB Joe Flacco even allowing for a little trickery, a 43 yard bomb from backup Troy Smith to Flacco.
Loser: JeMarcus Russell (OAK) hasn’t had a lot of consistency completing passes this year. At this point, he's not a quarterback who is going to win you football games. All three of his TD passes this year have come in losses.

    Carolina 27 / Arizona 23
Winner: Is anyone in the league as relied on as Jake Delhomme (CAR)? If Jake plays well, the Panthers win. In their last four wins, Delhomme has had a QB rating of 110+.
Loser: Edgerrin James (AZ) had 7 carries for 17 yards, and put the ball on the ground once. A pathetic day for the former All Pro back.
    Dallas 13 / Tampa Bay 9
Winners: The kickers. Nick Folk (DAL) and Matt Bryant (TB) outscored their offenses 16-6. Dallas improves to 5-3, and Wade Phillips takes one step closer to the door.
Loser: Anyone who had to sit through this boring, snooze-fest of a game.

    Washington 25 / Detroit 17
Winners: Jason Campbell (WAS) went 10-10 to start the game. His poise and accuracy are what have this Redskins team sitting at 6-2 this season. Dan Orlovsky (DET) is giving Lions fans some promise. In his last three starts he has shown serious improvement; he’s mobile, has good vision, and hasn’t thrown an interception in his last three games.
Loser: The Lions defense only has one interception in seven games. This season they have only kept one team under 400 yards of total offense… the 49ers, who put 369 yards up on them in week 3.

    Miami 25 / Buffalo 16
Winners: Chad Pennington (MIA) played the best football I have ever seen him play on Sunday. His line protected him well, and he played flawlessly. He made Buffalo's defense look like the cowardly Lions (mentioned above). Bryan Scott (BUF) was the only bright spot on a dismal Bills defense.
Loser: Terrence McGee (BUF) was obviously being nagged by a lingering knee injury, he couldn’t stay within 5 yards of Tedd Ginn Jr. Even still, Ginn made McGee look foolish for even stepping on the field.

the coaches looked even more foolish for keeping McGee in there.

McGee got toasted on a bad pass, on the very first play of the game.

I was scared the day may continue that way.

He played played way too soft. The first play Ill give him a pass on he had solid coverage and it was a great catch. The rest of the day was a mess.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
        It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.
