Together since 1996 - a virtual lifetime in the NFL - Brian Dawkins, Troy Vincent and Bobby Taylor have placed an indelible imprint on the Eagles.

You won't find a more experienced trio of defensive backs in the NFL and, without question, they are the most important link to the continued success of the Eagles' defense.

Since their first season together, Dawkins, Vincent and Taylor have combined for 61 interceptions, 181/2 sacks and 1,515 tackles. Dawkins and Vincent are among the league's most punishing defensive backs, as well as the undisputed team leaders, and Taylor is one of the league's best cover guys.

How much longer will they be together?

The only certain answer right now is for at least one more year.

After that, there are no guarantees.

The Eagles locked up Dawkins with a seven-year contract extension Monday that included roughly $8 million in up-front bonus money. It was the most lucrative signing bonus ever received by an NFL safety and the third highest in franchise history.
