LOL you may have nearly won last week, but I definitely don't see this happening. Only one QB has passed for over 200 yards against us at home, and that was Rivers who had about 206. And Edwards having a season-low passing yardage against one of the worst passing defenses in the league?

Sorry if we're not supposed to argue in this thread, I just thought this was fantastically funny.

EDIT: Seriously, people? OpIv isn't alone in projecting Favre for a huge passing day? Come on now...we had McGee and Youboty out against Rivers, who leads a much better passing game than Favre does.

Edwards will barely even be on the field.

Favre is going to go off. He's turnover prone, but we have no pass rush and our DB's play too far off the WR's to be anywhere close to getting INT's. We got lit up by noodle-arm Chad last week. If we can't stop him, there's no way we're stopping Favre.

And I could reply with:
1) McGee was hurt. He's feeling better now, which means he can press more.
2) Favre won't settle for the short passes like Pennington did. He'll have to press it a few times each game, which means more turnovers.
3) I believe you underestimate the home-field advantage. Like I said - Rivers has a much better passing game than Favre and we pretty much shut him down. Schobel, Youboty and McGee were all out for that game, too.
4) Youboty will be back. He's been very good in coverage this year.
5) Even when we got lit up last week, Edwards was on the field for around 28-29 minutes, and that's with 4 turnovers. I certainly wouldn't expect Edwards to turn the ball over that much again.

We will see who is right on Sunday.

1) Wrong. Reports are that McGee's injury will be nagging him all year.
2) Wrong. Our DB's only have 3 INT's on the year. the entire team only has 4. No pass rush + 10 yard cushion by the DB's= no INT's.
3) Home field helps but it won't compensate for all the other matchup problems.
4) Having Youboty back will help- I agree there.
5) The Jets have a much better O than the Fish and will be able to stay on the field more.

1) I have heard those, but I'm not sure where they are getting their info. Look at this quote from the bb.com website: "McGee came out of Sunday’s game [against Miami] no worse for the wear, so there’s a chance he’ll truly be 100 percent for this weekend’s game."

http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/secondary-jumble/1122340f-83ba-41f6-83eb-21510a80c3d9

It's towards the bottom.

2) How is this wrong? Favre has 11 interceptions on the year, and 7 in the last three games against average to below-average defenses. When you play a guy who tends to turn the ball over, it's reasonable to expect 1+ turnover. Just because our secondary doesn't have many interceptions right now doesn't mean they won't get one or two. Our DB's should be pressing to keep the short passing game to a minimum, as Chris Brown has mentioned several times.

3) Well there were plenty of matchup problems against the Chargers, did pretty well there. I'm curious - how many yards did you predict Rivers to have against us?

4) No problem here.

5) Really? According to NFL.com:
Miami: 350.1 total yards per game of offense
NYJ: 331.4 total yards per game of offense

Like I said, we'll have to see on gameday. I wouldn't be shocked to see the Jets win, but I can GUARANTEE they won't win by 20 points. And the only way I see Favre having over 300 yards passing is if they're down the entire game.

1) Well, bb.com isn't the most objective source, but there's no real point in debating this because we're both just guessing. We'll have to wait and see.

2) Favre's problem is that he turns the ball over, one of our problems on D is that we don't create turnovers. So, something has to give. But so far this season, our team has not been able to take advantage of the other team's weaknesses and I just don't see any turnovers with the lack of pass rush and our DB's playing such soft coverage.

3) I don't think I made a prediction on Rivers. But the Chargers as a whole have been playing pretty poorly. The Jets turned the ball over 3 times yet still scored 28. I really don't see the Chargers as a good comparison.

4)

5) You got me on yards, but the Jets are 10th in TOP and the Dolphins are only 17th, according to NFL.com. So, even if they don't rack up as many yards as the Dolphins, the Jets on average do control the ball better.

1) Very true. It's just that if there's any indication of a nagging injury, I would think Chris Brown would be willing to report it. Unless they're trying to hide it from our opponents, which would make sense. You're right, we'll just have to see how McGee does on Sunday.

2) Well we've still managed some turnovers despite little pass rush and soft coverage. And I've seen some TERRIBLE throws by Favre, so I wouldn't be surprised to see us get some picks.

3) The Chargers as a whole, yes. The Chargers passing game, however, is what I had been asking about. They are averaging ~250 yards per game through the air. We held them to way below that, and I believe they were the top passing offense going into the game at Buffalo. So our pass defense did VERY well against San Diego's passing attack when we were at home, without Youboty, McGee, and Schobel. I see no reason why the Jets would fare any better against us - Favre is about as accurate as Rivers, imo.

5) True, but we're 14th in TOP, and we'd be a lot higher if it wasn't for Losman's 20 minute debacle in Arizona. The Miami game was the first time this year where Edwards had finished a game and we lost the TOP battle. I could see us losing it, but there's no way we lose it by that much unless Losman is playing again.

EDIT: Some statistics:
Without the Arizona game (I know, it's not right to just throw out games, but that was mainly Losman, imo), we're averaging a little over 32 minutes in TOP. At home, we're averaging 33:45 in TOP. On the road, the Jets are averaging 31:51 in TOP. HOWEVER, it should be noted that in the Raiders game, they had 36:51 in TOP, which includes nearly 12 total minutes played into overtime. However, I included that game in my calculations anyway, even though it skews the data quite a bit. Now I'm wondering if they included that total time in the nfl.com statistics. Very interesting.
