Hey guys/gals. Nothing new this week.. it'll be the same as last weekend!:) Once you have my channel running in sopcast, simply open VLC, Open Network Stream, choose HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/MMS and beside it enter, 127.0.0.1:8902 and click OK.

XS Sports, 482k (sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/48856)
Download Sopcast here (http://jtv-sports.com/software/Sopcast.zip)
Download VLC (http://videolan.org/vlc)

*For Vista users, you might need to input this url at the top where it says address (in sopcast) if the channel doesn't open when you click the link above, sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/48856

*For Mac users, I'll post flash links for you guys, unless you know someone that will be watching the game on my channel and they have fast upload speed (2mpbs). They could give you their IP address and in vlc you would enter, their_ip_address:8902 *Just make sure they have port 8902 open in their firewall.

You can also Donate Here (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=5138) to help out with server costs, thanks!! Go Bills!

In the new VLC version, Media, Open Network Stream, choose HTTP, enter 127.0.0.1:8902

Yes you can record with vlc.. when you're at the Open Network Stream dialog, click Stream/Save then settings, choose File, and select where and the filename you want it called. Make sure you select ASF as the encapsulation method. You don't have to transcode either, just leave those settings alone.

Why does SopCast always say the channel is OFFLINE??

xs_sports
11-02-2008, 12:21 PM
Probably because you're using Vista. Paste the url in the Address field in sopcast.

My channel? If you are having problems opening the stream in VLC.. make sure you allow TCP port 8902 in your firewall... or disable it for the time being.

I can't get either to work. I have been allowing all Sopcast access on the firewall. After getting to 100, the screen just stays black w/flashes of white every few seconds. Justin.tv works, but the quality is pretty rough. Beggars can't be choosers I guess.

If you read the first post fully, you'd know to use VLC.:) After you have it downloaded/installed... open it, Media, Open Network Stream, choose HTTP and enter beside it, 127.0.0.1:8902

I've tried that.
VLC keeps saying:
"Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://127.0.0.1:8902'. Check the log for details."

I take it you left sopcast running while opening it in VLC? Disable your firewall or create a rule to allow connections on TCP port 8902, and make sure VLC has network access too.

Really? My stats show me that source connection is 100% and viewers connection is 98% so it can't be my end. Are you on a router shared with many computers? Wireless connection? What is your buffer at, and have you tried restarting VLC?

I have to change the channel.

No I'm not sharing my connection with anyone except maybe my sister (only one computer though) and yeah it is wireless. I also restarted VLC like many times but it was the same.

Anyway, I'm going to figure it out, thanks!
