So, Kyle Williams was asked, are you excited about playing against a certified NFL legend –Brett Favre?
“My wife asked me that when he got traded over there,” said Williams, a Bills defensive tackle. “I told her, ‘No, it’s just another game.’ I mean, no matter who’s playing quarterback for them, it’s a division game. He definitely makes it exciting for the fans, more so than the players.”
Well, if Williams isn’t excited, he needs to rewind the Jets game film. If he and his defensive teammates aren’t geared up to take on Favre and the Jets after watching them bumble through their last three games, then I don’t know what it will take to get a rise out of these guys.
Excited? They should be salivating. Donte Whitner should send a limousine to the Jets’ hotel and give Favre an escort to Ralph Wilson Stadium.
This is just what the Bills’ defense needs right now –a home game against a fading legend whose ego is bigger than his diminished talents, a quarterback who serves up interceptions like hors d’oeuvres.
Favre has thrown 15 touchdown passes this season. He has also heaved 11 interceptions, tying him for the NFL lead with J. T. O’Sullivan, who has been sent to the bench by the 49ers. In his last three games, Favre has three TDs and seven interceptions against Cincinnati, Oakland and Kansas City — none of whom are ranked in the top 20 in the league in defense.
At age 39, Favre is fast becoming a joke. He’s a hollowed-out version of his former self, a pumpkin left on the porch too long after Halloween. His throws lack their usual velocity. His shoulder is an issue.
Last week, Favre spent much of the week defending himself against reports that he gave information about the Packers’ offense to then-Lions General Manager Matt Millen early in the season. Favre initially called the report “total BS” but later admitted there was some truth to it.
