The game of football is very simple. You win by blocking well offensively and penetrating well defensively. We do neither of them well and in fact are horrible at both. After our 4-0 start I was happy as heck but was surprised that we were winning games despite;
a) running the ball well
b) getting to the qb
c) stopping the run
Those 3 things are the keys to victory for any team in the NFL.
The Jets, Dolphins and Pats games are perfect examples of doing those 3 things better than we do them and winning as a result.
Even when Schobel returns I dont expect us to improve too much. This team will not go far without a pass rusher and a run blocker.
Trent is still young and can improve, just PLEASE give him a run game. It doesnt get any worse when were in shotgun on 3rd and 1.
That being said I believe we will go 3-1 or 4-0 over the next 4 and if they change the scheme somehow to generate more pressure and create running lanes maybe we beat the Jets and Pats in rematches.
