Paying Peters would be a HUGE mistake...

I hope this team doesnt give Peters the contract he wants and he is why.

Peters is probably one of the 5 BEST pass blockers in the NFL. Even after giving up a few sacks this year which a couple were not his fault. He is an incredible athlete and that is why he is great at blocking elite pass rushers.

HOWEVER when it comes to run blocking he is probably among the worst LT in the NFL. Peters as we all know was a TE in college not a OL. Run blocking requires feel, technique and attitude. Peters has none of those qualities.

Seeing as how we play in Buffalo the running game is a must and if we pay Peters we will be stuck with a sub-par run blocker for the next ten years in a city where run blocking IMO is more important than pass blocking.

One example is Marvel Smith. For years he has been known as a liability in pass pro but he is a mauler as a run blocker and that is more important in Pittsburgh as it is here.

Trade Peters to a pass happy team and re-build the line with FOOTBALL PLAYERS not fantastic athletes and physical specimens that dont play physical.

Never pay a player based on one years productivity.

For all the education and practice each of us undergoes, the achievment of mastery is ultimately the outcome of a personal quest for understanding.
