The Sabres, who took Sunday off, are back on the ice now in HSBC Arena. It's a longggg practice, as to be expected with no game until Wednesday when St. Louis visits.

Teppo Numminen is the only player not on the ice. (Update coming after Lindy Ruff news conference.) Here are the forward lines for the day:

Thomas Vanek-Derek Roy-Ales Kotalik
Jochen Hecht-Tim Connolly-Jason Pominville
Daniel Paille-Clarke MacArthur-Maxim Afinogenov
Andrew Peters-Paul Gaustad-Adam Mair
Extras: Drew Stafford, Patrick Kaleta.

In other news, Losman_Wins was put on suicide watch.

Does anyone else think he follows Kaleta around like the obsessed Jimmy MacElroy fan in Blades of Glory?

Why Peters??????

I can see sitting Kaleta if Stafford was in there but not Peters!!! He must have pics of Lindy boning some hookers.

Stafford is a huge disapointment by the way. I was expecting 20+ goals out of this kid.

The only thing i could see playing Peters in the lineup is to send a message to the young forwards to pick it up a notch
Kaleta and Stafford both are not playing up to par
Stafford in my opinion should be traded in a package with Max and a pick to get us another Big D man i think that really is our biggest need

I agree, I don't understand the fascination with this guy?

peters is the sabres representative for the NHLPA so that probably plays a part as to why he is still on the 23 man roster

They have actually done fairly well on face-offs this year, especially considering 3 centers missed much of the year.

i agree THURM. i'm just as disappointed in Stafford as the next person. i can understand a healthy scratch, by Lindy, as a message too. i just think Lindy will have to let him play out of his slump. the kid has the tools to be a consistant 20-25 goal scorer.
