...when our defense was flying all over the field, causing major disruptions and wreaking havoc. That was awesome. I wonder what happened.

Me too. We've gone into a bend but don't break style. Rushing 4. And getting picked apart.

We started playing competitive teams.

Rushing four with our best pass rusher sidelined....

So we should sit back in a shell and get picked apart? The QB is going to have all day back there.

Reminds me of the year when they opened against Houston and the defense was amazing, only to realize it was because they were playing Houston and not because the defense was actually good.

Isn't that what they have been doing for the past three weeks?

LoG for Defensive Coordinator!

BTW I agree! We shouldn't.

You wouldn't want that. I'd do an all-out blitz on every play.

The other teams we play have WR's who weren't stocking shelves 3 days beofre the game.

we lost our balls and started being conservative.

BTW, this D was an attacking D in the first game. We went from that to a bend don't break D AKA, play not to lose . I'd rather we play to cause damage.

Fewell lets the talent on the field affect his philosphy. As soon as he feels short-handed due to injuries, he turns into Mr. Conservative.

We should be good Monday night as long as we keep Cleveland from getting 3rd downs.

The D is on the field a considerable amout longer too as the offense seems to have forgotten how to move the football.

Once again, this all starts and ends with the OL. They're getting owned on the field at least twice every series.

This is a game of trust as you are dependant on each and every person on the field ( as well as the coaches off the field). Seems to me that the line has lost cohesion with one another. I expect that Edwards has lost confidence in his line since he sees the ground much more frequently these days. And the coaching staff has lost trust in the offense, forcing more conservative play on defense as to not wear them down too quickly.

It wasn't just the first game either. Against the Jaguars, they even sent Youboty on a blitz. When was the last time the Bills called a corner blitz?

I can recall the last 5 times our opponents called a corner blitz and he came uncontested.

People can bash Aaron all they want, but lets face it our defense hasn't been as good without him.

because our coaching staff had 6 months to prepare...apparently a week isn't enough for them.

We learned last year from the football experts that the qb position is responsible for stopping the run and pass.

As soon as stupid Fewell realizes that we can't get to the QB with any 4 people on our roster, we might actually play better football. I just don't understand why we aren't blitzing more.

But seriously, last night in Madden, the Eagles blitzed me 27 times and they won. I suck!

we don't have a healthy defense.

but that's not my main concern with it.

We don't mix our coverages enough. We don't disguise coverages well, and our blitzes tend to be predictable, ill executed, poorly timed, and basic.

Good coaching could cover a lot of the problems we're having at the moment with this team, unfortunately, our defensive coordinator seems to be getting only what the players talent will give him, which means we have a mediocre defensive coordinator.

IIRC, they did sack pennington once with a safety blitz vs. miami.
