Can we please stop the short passes?!?!

    b. I wrote on SI.com Friday morning about the game plan-safety of rookie Cleveland quarterback Brady Quinn's starting debut, and this will give you some perspective: Of Quinn's 35 passes against Denver, the longest passes traveled 13, 11 and 11 yards. Every other one was 10 yards or less past the line of scrimmage. Credit offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski for a smart game plan ... even though the Browns should definitely have called a run to get the first down with a minute to go on third-and-one and then fourth-and-one and two timeouts left.

The thing we seem to be most susceptible to is those quick passes and underneath junk. Lord knows our D-line isnt getting much pressure, and I am just going to be sickened to death if Quinn dinks and dunks all over our D. If an idiot like King can see this stat, our D-coordinator sure as hell better. And he better adjust to it.

Having a dink and dunk system keeps D's closer to the LOS which makes it easier for them to get to Lynch. Trent can throw the ball but the schemes does not make use of his arm. If you don't have a deep threat, you make your O one dimensional.

This scheme does not have big play ability even though we have deep threat talent. Sad.

this scheme truly does have much.

our scheme also has no faith in our players. how many times can u think of lately where we are 3rd and 1 and lineup 4 wrs. talk about no faith in your scheme and players.

how can we stop short passes when our D is so simple that you know 4 are rushing qb and rest are dropping into a zone.

this bills D basically allows for about 9 soft spots in a cover 2 zone.

any qb at this level should be able to place a ball in one of those zones every play

thats what im saying. we need to remedy this, too often are teams simply taking the short passes and we cant stop it, especially when we actually do cover the other routes, get no rush, and someone like the RB is allowed to run all the way across the field and get open. Its absolutely enfuriating to watch.

Looks like Dick is a victim of his own offensive philosophy. He wants our O to be a ball control O with short passes . his D is also one that would rather take short passes with less risks than give up big plays. THis conservative approach to both units isn't working.
