Chris Hope has no intention of telling the Steelers how to conduct the draft, but the proceedings last weekend gave him no reason to celebrate.

Troy Polamalu was drafted in the first round to play strong safety, the position that Hope is forced to vacate this season. Not only was Polamalu selected with the 16th overall choice, but the Steelers spent two other picks to move up 11 spots to take him. Clearly, the team has big plans for him.

Sometime during his workouts and preparations for a season at a crossroads, Hope heard the news.

"I look at it kind of as a slap in the face," he said, "or you weren't as comfortable with me as I wanted you to be. I definitely feel like I have a point to prove."
