Coach Bill Cowher sounded impressed that rookie Alonzo Jackson responded to the Steelers' request that he lose some weight. What he did not know is how he lost it, a diet supplement you won't find in a bottle on the shelves at GNC.

"He was working out at 266 for people," Cowher said of his second-round draft choice from Florida State. "We told him we wanted him to lose some weight because he played last year about 254, 255. He came in this weekend at 255. I think he'll be a lot quicker, a lot better."

He's not feeling much better, though. Jackson said he lost weight not because the Steelers asked him to but because he has been sick for the past week.

"I've been sick; I'm sick right now," Jackson said. "I don't know what it is. I got it about a week ago."

On Thursday, Jackson said he weighed 263; yesterday he said he was 260.
