the NHL is in trouble anyway. Player salaries are the largest single expense for the owners and they're increasing far more than the revenue. It's like no one learned anything from the lockout.

Without better TV contracts like the NFL and NBA have, the NHL won't be able to keep up.

I think Op has a good point. NFL revenues are pretty much guaranteed. Hell, an owner in that league can make money without even fielding a team.
