All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!

Cleveland deferred and kicked to us to open the game.

Hard to remember that given how many ints we had to open the game.

Yeah, that's the point. When you lose the toss, you get the choice of which goal to defend. So, why were they going into the wind in the 4th quarter? Either they did it on purpose, or the wind changes direction at some point during the game.

No. Deferring means you defer the choice to the 2nd half. IF Buffalo had chosen an end, Cleveland would've gotten the ball to start the 1st and 2nd halves.

C'Mon that cant be the rule. So if you win the coin toss you get to pick 2nd half kick AND wind. If that is true than the new rule is ridiulous

It was our choice for the direction after they deferred and got the ball in the second half.

However, before Jauron gets RIPPED on for something else (everything deserved I’ve heard so far) keep this in mind.

Yeah, Lindell coulda been kicking into the wind. However, if Cleveland didn’t have the wind in the 4^th there is NO WAY they kick to McKelvin after the long Harrison TD run.

So I don’t blame that decision at all.

That's not the rule. The rule isn't the point of this thread, though maybe it will be useful for those who are confused by it. When a team loses the toss, they get the choice of which goal to defend. Bills could have defended whichever side they wanted for the 4th quarter. Point of the thread was, why were the Bills going into the wind in the 4th quarter? Was it on purpose, or did the wind change direction? Was anybody who was at the game give some insight? Was the wind steady in the same direction throughout?

It was obviously on purpose, because once Cleveland decided to receive to open the 2nd half, the Bills had the choice of which side to defend.

The Bills chose to have Cleveland go against the wind in the 3rdQ because - knowing the Browns had the first possession - they didn't want to let them have the wind, too.

I'd assume it was because Jauron didn't want to risk the Browns going up by ten after the first possession of the 2nd half. Obviously, the trade-off was going against the wind in the 4th quarter themselves.
