One month ago you looked at the Bills schedule and chalked up today's game at Kansas City as an automatic victory for a Buffalo team that was flying high, leading the AFC East, and seemingly on its way to the franchise's first playoff berth since 1999. Today, the Bills need to win just to stay on the periphery of the postseason race.
BILLS ON OFFENSE

After five straight games of trying unsuccessfully to decipher 3-4 defenses, QB Trent Edwards finally gets a break today. The Chiefs play a 4-3, and they don't play it very well as they rank last in the NFL (http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20081123/SPORTS03/811230363#) in yards allowed per game (402.5), total sacks (6), average yards per rush (5.1) and third-down efficiency (50.8 percent) and they are 28th in points allowed (273). The Bills should be able to get their running game established, especially after it showed signs of life last week with 186 yards against the Browns. The Chiefs may be getting three defensive starters back as LB Derrick Johnson, CB Brandon Flowers and DE Tamba Hall are expected to play after they missed last week's loss to New Orleans. How much of a difference will it make? Hard to tell because even with them the Chiefs weren't stopping anybody.
