Redskins' defense won't rest with Edwards

    By Jody Foldesy
    THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Renaldo Wynn's hands were maybe six inches apart and his eyes wide open as he described the Washington Redskins' 2002 defensive playbook under coordinator Marvin Lewis.
"Our book ... shoot, our book was probably more defensive plays than I've ever had in my career," the defensive end said with a laugh. "There wasn't anything that we would see, that we couldn't go back to a defensive play and make an adjustment at halftime. We had it in there."
And they still do, in a way.
Lewis moved on to coach the Cincinnati Bengals and linebackers coach George Edwards was promoted to run the unit and, club officials hope, maintain at least its No. 5 ranking. Edwards is using Lewis' basic scheme, adjusting certain aspects but keeping it mostly intact.
