Like I've said before, there is only 4-5 clear players who would start on 1/2 the teams in the league. We have guys starting who shouldn't even have a jersey let alone a starting job.

Both your backs are better than him.

I wouldn't even want Lynch in Cleveland.

I don't think we give enough credit to Marcus Stroud. He's the most underappreciated player on this team, by far. How soon people forget about our run defense the past few years...

And Lynch plays his heart out.

It's sad when the first guy you list is a long snapper.

That's OK, the first guy I'd list is the guy catching the long snaps.

Brian Moorman Bills MVP for 2000-2009

He's allowed a pass on these things as I'm shocked that his leg hasn't fallen off yet.

Well, we get Adam Jones back this week so we have a PR again for the next two weeks before he slaps a woman or gets caught with drugs or something, so we're good in that area.

Joe Thomas can actually run block, an area where Peters is average...and Lewis actually follows blockers consistently, has field vision and has better hands.

The only reason I put them as equal is because Lynch is younger.

Doesn't mean for the short term I'd rather have Lynch. Five years from now? Yeah, Lynch will be better. But by then the Browns will have another RB. The Bills likely will too.

Joe Thomas is a lil better than Peters though.

Lynch has better hands than Lewis... I believe Lynch has 44 receptions this year. He can catch as good as any Rb in the league

And Lynch has worse hands, less blocking ability, less leadership than Lewis and worse field vision.

I go for the whole package.

He can? I think he's trying to threaten Braylon Edwards for most drops in the league. Every game Lynch drops at least 2 passes.

As good as any RB in the league? He's as good as Reggie Bush now as a receiving threat?

He's no more talented than McGahee.

You clearly dont know much about Rbs if thats your opinion. If Lynch ran behind Minnesota or New England's OL he would be racking up at minimum 1500 yards a season and well over 5 yards per carry. He has a lethal stiff arm, power, great feet, and he combines all of that with moves and great hands. Not Reggie Bush hands because Bush is more of a receiver than a RB, but Bush cant run like Lynch so its a moot point.

Just watch how many times Lynch makes safeties miss once he crosses the LOS gaining him an extra 10 yards. For a back with so much power he can make you miss just as easily as he can drag you for an extra 10. Sorry but Lewis does not have that ability and neither does Felix Jones. I would like to see Felix carry the ball 25+ times a game before you even mention him with Lynch.

Yeah just watch how McGahee ran in 06 and compare it to how Lynch ran in 07.

Lynch's line had more talent and ability yet his numbers were no different than McGahee's.

But you're right, Lynch is better and I don't know RBs.

How about this one, by the time next year, Lynch will be the worst starting RB in the division after the Pats pick up Larry Johnson.

Oh BTW Mahdi, I'll use your logic, when Lynch can run for over 2000 yards in a season then you can mention him in the same sentence as Lewis.

I think everyone here and in Buffalo and the Buffalo staff agree that the run blocking has been porous. So who cares if theres more talent. They arent getting the job done. And when they do, Lynch runs wild.

You mean Lewis from 8 years ago. Were comparing current RBs not their former selves. And again Lewis was running behind the best OL in football in 2000. Lynch has been running behind swiss cheese for most of the season and last season too.

we have talent on this roster, the problem is with the coaching they do not utilize the talent avaliable! speedy recievers how many reverses have we run this year, why did we invest in such a big O line? I saw a stat that the Bills ran the fewest play action in the league! You run to set up play action this gets one on one coverage which allows for the deep ball and gives Lee Evans a chance to make the big plays we all know he can make! It also allows you to bootleg and extend the play or create mismatces or break downs , the best thing for un confident QB is to get him out of the pocket and make plays on the run! But good old DJ is as predictable as daylight! He takes no chances, kicks when he should go for it and goes for it when he should kick! It goes to say but I think that most of us can coach this team better than good old DJ he does not need to fired he needs to be assignated while still in office! Do we play the Giants maybe we can petition Burress to but that fire to good use in the state of NY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Compared to top five teams in the NFL: None of the Bills players are as good as their counterparts.

Compared to teams in the top half of the NFL: Evans, Lynch, Peters and Stroud would be starters on at least half those teams. Poz MIGHT get a look in on a couple of them. McGee and Greer, when fully healthy, could probably do a better job than the #2 cornerback on at least half those teams as well, but I don't think they'd ever be #1.

Lynch, Jackson, Evans, Peters, Doc, Walker, Butler, Schobel, Stroud, Mitchell, Pos, Whitner, and our Kickers would all start not including our PR and KR. They may not be superstars but they are starters.

Hell, the Lynch of this season doesn't even touch the ball 20 times a game. He drops passes left, right and center. He misses blocking assignments constantly. He lacks breakaway speed, even though you have this thing for him being fast. Lewis' stats and Lynch's this year are really no different. And last year Lewis had the obvious edge all across the board.

In 5 years, yeah, Lynch will be better. Because Lewis' career will likely be done. But what does that mean for today? Absolutely nothing.

Lynch is what he is, a dime a dozen back in this league. Funny part is, so is Lewis. And so is McGahee. None of them are anything special, they're just capable of being the workhorse back on a team. You could interchange any of the three and the end results would be about the same.

That's a better way of putting it...they're not superstars but are starters.

Lynch would start other places yes, but wouldn't be an upgrade to over half the league. A team he would be an upgrade would be Arizona. Put him on the Dolphins and he's likely their third back behind Brown and Rickey.

Jackson I don't think is a bonafide starter anywhere though, unsure if he's capable of being the 20-25 carry a game guy.

Evans would be a number 1 on a few other teams and definite number 2 everywhere else, outside of Dallas. He's a better complimentary player than the main guy.

Peters is a franchise LT who would start on 75% of teams.

Walker eh, 50-50 where he'd play.

But that's the point I'm trying to get at...we don't have superstars. We have some nice starters...nothing more nothing less. Then we have some guys who shouldn't be starters and inconsistent QB play.

Put all that together and you have an around .500 team. Which is exactly what we've been for the past 3 years now.

Changing just the coach won't do anything to change that fact, we need wholesale changes at the top who will bring in more talented players. And yes, every position outside of Punter and Left Tackle could use more talented players. I'll even give DB his call on Ryan Neil. Problem is, that's 1 out of 22 starters where we have bonafide top 5 material in the league.

You mention returners like it's an awesome thing we have guys who can get it done. Other teams do it too. And use interchangeable parts year after year and use guys that were undrafted or drafted very low. Meanwhile we have Day 1 picks handling our return duty.

Day 1 picks should be guys that upgrade the 22. Not niche players.

Lacks break away speed? Each time he has been brought down was because the CB had the clear edge on him. Also, he drops passes but he also catches about 5-6 a game. He misses blocking assignments yes, but thats mainly when covering a DE. He is also the player who has had to play behind a horrible OL and has had success. Look at the great players, AD, LJ 2 yrs ago, LT last year, Addai, and Westbrook 2 yrs ago. What do they all have in common, they all play behind the best OLs in the NFL and look at LT and LJ mainly, 2 years ago LJ and LT were playing behind a line that had a HOFer and 2 HOF capable FBs. What does Lynch have, a man in his face each time he gets the ball and he still is in the top at TDs and in top 15 in running. Lynch makes the most out of every carry and if he was in ADs or LTs line when they were great, he would be just as good. Put either behind a Bills line, they would be worse than lynch. Also look at the great RBs and you see a great 2nd stringer who looks equal to them. Its not a coincidense that LT, AD, and Addai all have a 2nd stringer and some 3rd stringer that has 700 yards along with them. Watch a game with Sproles, Rhodes, or Taylor. All you see is a RB who looks like a beast. Its another reason why NE always has success with any RB they have.

with your reasoning though LT should still be a top back and hasn't done anything this year.

LJ for hte most part really hasn't done anything either...
I love lynch in terms of he is a pretty good back, but he still lacks either a good FB to block for him, or the fact he does have horrible football vision... if he has a wide open hole thats one thing, but he rarely takes a look and goes into the pile, playing like that i'd be surprised to see him play any more than 10 years

This is why I've used the Bills RBs since Thomas as an example. Thomas is a world above Lynch, obviously. But the other guys, Antowain, Henry, McGahee...look at their stats when here. Then look at Lynch's.

The stats aren't any different man. All of them ran behind porous O-lines. And I'd argue that the line we have now is "supposed to" be the best one of the past decade. "Supposed to" and are, are two different things though. But it's not like the lines that those other three ran behind were any good either.

Lynch doesn't outshine any of the previous backs this organization has had ever. I'm being completely honest here, I can't think of one guy that he's head and shoulders better than. From Cookie to OJ to Cribbs to Bell to Thomas to today, who's Lynch head and shoulders above?

Great players get great results no matter the circumstances. Walter Payton played most of his career behind an absolutely terrible Bears team. The Rams with Dickerson had one great lineman and some average players. The Lions? Barry Sanders was that whole team.

There are more examples of this. Guys who elevate the play of those around them. Lynch doesn't elevate anyone's play.

If it werent for Lynch we wouldnt of been in the last game or the one in Cleveland. Also, you are using HOFers for example, Lynch is not a hofer maybe yet or ever.

And what did Lewis do in last year's game against Cleveland? If that's your standard for Lynch, then you have to think that Jamal Lewis is head and shoulders above him.

You're right, Lynch isn't a HOFer...nor will he ever be.

He's a dime a dozen RB in a RB rich league. He's just another guy that you can plug in and get around 75-80 yards with per game. There's about 20 of those guys around the league.

McGahee, Thomas Jones, Ronnie Brown, Jamal Lewis, Willie Parker, Chris Johnson, Steve Slaton, Larry Johnson now, Whoever Denver decides to use, Ryan Grant, Matt Forte, Steven Jackson, Frank Gore, Eanest Graham...etc.

Lynch isn't any better than any of those guys, and I didn't list one actual superstar back at all.
