Great point on the AFC East.

As Pat pointed out yesterday, had the Bills beat the Browns and San Fran they would be tied for 1st right now.

        I agree Sal.

This is why when people still gush over Favre I get irritated. It's not that he turned around that team. It's the division they are in, the schedule they have, and the other pieces that were added to the team.

Parity is undefeated this year. Mediocre teams for everyone!

Other then the Titans and the Steelers are there any AFC teams that are much above mediocre?

Well the Ravens and Colts are one game back of the Steelers as are the Jets.

8-4 is a pretty good record...and with the Colts schedule, they'll be the 5 seed at 12-4.

8-4 is a good record, no question. I was trying to point out the fallacy of blaming the mediocrity of the AFC East for the reason for the Jets impressive record. The AFC as a whole is better then it was last year - and obviously much more balanced.

If the AFC East is mediocre, what is the AFC West or North for that matter?

The West has one average team and a bunch of horrid teams.

The North has the Steelers and Ravens and then two of the worst performing teams in football this year.

I completely disagree with the division being mediocre. Especially since every team 3/4 of the way through the season is .500 or better.

The division will finish with 3 teams with above .500 records and 2 teams with at least 10 wins. If that's mediocre, then you have to be willing to say that there is NO good division in football.

Mediocre meaning there are no dominant teams, as well as no really sad teams. Every other division has at least one or the other.

There's no Titans or Giants in the AFC East. There's also no Chiefs or Lions.

The best team in the AFCE - the Jets - aren't one of the top 4 or 5 in the league.

The worst team - the Bills - aren't one of the 5 or 6 worst.

All the AFC East teams are somewhere near the middle of the NFL pack.

And the division has the closest gap amongst its 4 teams.

That's what I mean by mediocre.
