View Full Version : Need further proof that the Pro Bowl is just a joke?

Guess how many players the Redskins have in the Pro Bowl if it started right now?

Dujek

I think 15.

They have a mass campaign going, I saw banners for it posted on another NFL forum.

21 freaking players.... Their entire defense is the starting defense for the Pro Bowl right now and 8 of their 11 on offense would be Pro Bowl starters right now. Just amazing.

Any fan voting for an All-Star team is a joke.

Dujek
12-04-2008, 09:38 AM
But remember the fans votes only count for 1/3 of the total. By the time the press and coaches vote they should be back down to a reasonable number.

I couldn't agree more, I was as pissed as anyone to see 13 Cowboys last year. It really takes away from the credibility of the Pro Bowl when there are that many players from one team in the game. I think there should be some kind of a limit, I think somewhere in the area of 5 is fair enough.

No, I was honestly pissed off. There's no reason to have that many players from one team in an "all-star" game. I did think that six of the thirteen did deserve to be there though.

I was never pissed back in the early 90's when Buffalo sent more than a punter to the Pro-Bowl.

Need even further proof? Roy Williams (SS) has made the Pro Bowl something like eight times, the guy is the worst SS in the entire NFL.

It happens in all the voting...Look at hockey when Rory Fitzpatrick was voted in by the fans and currently all the starters on the Eastern Conference play for the Montreal Canadiens.

Cowboys Pro Bowlers in 2007:
- Demarcus Ware and Greg Ellis - Deserved

- Ken Hamlin, Roy Williams, Terence Newman - Are you serious? Newman is the only one who should have made it.

- Tony Romo - Deserved

- Marion Barber - Border-line

- Terrell Owens - Deserved

- Jason Witten - Deserved

- Flozell Adams, Andre Gurode, Leonard Davis - Davis deserved it, Gurode was border-line.

- McBriar - meh, border-line.

This year you'll only see about five Cowboys; Witten, Ware, Ratliff, Romo, Davis, no one else deserves it in this fans mind.

It would be a travesty if it actually meant something. It is a popularity contest/beauty pageant at the end of the season. Why shouldn't the fans vote for who they want?

It's NOT REAL football. Who cares. I haven't watched the pro bowl in over 20 years. I don't even bother reading about it the next day.

Know how Ruben Brown made the probowl like 8 straight years?

Part of what makes it interesting to me is the idea that one of the muli-multi-multi-millionaires could get injured and it could have an effect on the following season. Since you don't watch you probably wouldn't remember but I can still see Brees laying down on the goal-line screaming in pain after his shoulder got torn up (or was it his hand? You get the point.) Thankfully for him it required surgery but wasn't serious enough to affect the following season.
