GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- When they should be in the classroom setting, that is being on a practice field, linebacker Nick Barnett and defensive tackle James Lee instead will be serving something akin to an after-school detention by no fault of their own.

Barnett and Lee, former Oregon State teammates and two of Green Bay's top picks in the NFL Draft last weekend, have been barred from participating in the Packers' second minicamp in early June.

An NFL rule forbids any rookies from attending more than one minicamp if the school from which they hail is in session at the time of the minicamps.

Since Oregon State operates its academic year on a quarter system, classes will be ongoing next month. Although Barnett and Lee withdrew from school before the draft to concentrate on football, they must comply with the edict.

As do the Packers, who have been down this road before.

"The situation is what it is," head coach Mike Sherman said Sunday, following the Packers' final practice of their post-draft minicamp.
