Baltimore's downtown football stadium will soon become M&T Bank Stadium under the terms of a 15-year deal that was finalized Monday.
M&T, a Buffalo-based banking firm, will pay the Ravens about $5 million a year, including contributions to charities operated by the club, according to C. Michael Zabel, a spokesman for the bank.
Officials of the bank, which catapulted from 26th biggest in the nation to 18th through last month's acquisition of the Baltimore-based Allfirst Financial Inc., were in town Monday to complete final details. An announcement is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday.
The banking company's public profile will greatly expand in July when its name replaces Allfirst's on branches and in its advertising in the region.
The transaction is among the five most lucrative NFL stadium-naming deals....
