Jaguars hope Douglas aids the pass rush

If the Jaguars didn't already know it, Donovan McNabb reminded them last week how much of a prize they have in defensive end Hugh Douglas.

Nearly two months after Douglas bolted from McNabb's team, the Philadelphia Eagles, to take the Jaguars' five-year, $27.5 million contract offer, McNabb and his teammates are still bemoaning Douglas' departure.

"Any time you lose a guy that had 13, 14, 15 sacks a year, that's hard to fill,'' McNabb said during an uncharacteristically public criticism of the Eagles' recent moves, particularly the decision to let Douglas leave.

McNabb's comments gave the Jaguars more reason to feel confident that, when it comes to Douglas and his All-Pro pass rush ability, Philadelphia's loss will be their gain. That confidence is why they gave the 31-year-old a $6-million signing bonus in March.
