Honestly, I'd be all for them putting him on waivers. He will most likely clear and I'd rather just cut him loose now. If they are letting him walk in the off-season (which they most likely are), they might as well cut their losses now and let the others play who will be on the team for the forseeable future.

I disagree.

I think if the Sabres were presented with an acceptable deal, they would take it. I just don't think at this point, with free agency coming up, that anyone is willing to give anything up for the guy. Maybe a few years ago they were in love with him and wouldn't trade him, but I think now they would dump him in a heartbeat for the right deal.
