Although Bucs defensive tackle Warren Sapp is saying little publicly about his lame-duck contract status in Tampa, a league source tells us that Sapp is complaining privately that he's getting no respect from the team.

Sapp will receive $6.6 million in salary this season, the final year of a six-year extension he signed in 1998. The Bucs have not approached him regarding another extension, and it's very possible at this point that no talks will occur prior to the expiration of Sapp's current deal.

If, as we've previously reported, Sapp wants $20 million in bonus money, there's no way that he'll get that kind of money from the Bucs, who also need to sign their other starting defensive tackle, Anthony McFarland, to a new contract after the coming season.

The best bet, in our view, would be for the Bucs to trade Sapp for future draft picks.
