According to multiple sources within the Dallas Cowboys, there is an emerging internal conflict involving three of the team's highest-profile stars.

As the preseason Super Bowl favorites struggle in the final month of the season to simply make the playoffs, wide receiver Terrell Owens has expressed resentment toward Tony Romo, apparently jealous of the quarterback's relationship with tight end Jason Witten.

Owens feels that Romo and Witten -- close friends and road roommates who came to Dallas in the same offseason -- hold private meetings in which they create plays the two will use in upcoming games without including Owens in the conversations, according to a source who speaks regularly with Owens' teammates. Owens believes these discussions have worked to his detriment as Romo seeks to deliver the ball to Witten regardless of whether Owens is open.

Owens declined to discuss the situation on Thursday outside the Cowboys' locker room. As he walked toward the players' lounge at Valley Ranch, ESPN asked Owens if he would answer questions and he said, "Nope.''

Linebacker Bradie James acknowledged to ESPN that his status as one of the team captains has caused him to play a peacemaker role between Romo and Owens.

"Whenever the fire gets blazing, I know,'' James said. "Sometimes, I don't want to step on anybody's toes, but we all talk.

Wow... Owens really thinks those two conspire against him. I don't even know what to say about that... Yes T.O. its all a conspiracy... maybe he believes Jerry Jones was the shooter on the grassy knoll too.

It's amazing how clueless the rest of America is when it comes to the Cowboys. T.O. has already all but said that this story is complete BS and that there are no issues with him, Romo, or Witten. And why would there be? He's Romo's number one target by a long shot since Romo's return, try again ESPN:

1. Terrell Owens: 40 passes (20 catches)
2. Jason Witten: 27 passes (18 catches)
3. Roy Williams: 18 passes (10 catches)
4. Marion Barber: 17 passes (14 catches)
5. Tashard Choice: 12 passes (8 catches)
6. Patrick Crayton: 8 passes (6 catches)
7. Martellus Bennett: 6 passes (6 catches)
8. Miles Austin: 3 passes (2 catches)
9. Tony Curtis: 2 passes (1 catch)

So let's say that there was an issue and T.O. felt that Romo was favoring Witten, could you blame the guy? I'd throw to him too.

T.O.

43-of-88 (48.8 %), 748 yards, 8 TD

WITTEN

58-of-80 (72.5 %), 719 yards, 3 TD

PATRICK CRAYTON

23-of-39 (59.0 %), 320 yards, 3 TD

ROY WILLIAMS

10-of-18 (55.5 %), 139 yards, 0 TD

By the way, I love superstar players but I can't wait until Owens is out of Dallas. His replacement is already on the roster

He can't though, he has to be in the media spotlight. Doesn't matter if it's positive or negative, he lives for it. Thankfully he won't be our problem anymore next season

Not at all, he does just want to win and when he gets the ball we generally do win. But I've grown tired of the crap from him every week, every day, every hour (seemingly). There are just too many super stars on offense right now, he's the least important for the future and will likely be gone after this season.

Owens deserves some credit in this situation it was not he who went to the media about this story. Not for a second do I believe its complete BS though. But this was not TO being TO. Somebody else leaked this.

There really isn't anything to it. Crayton, Owens, and Williams all took part in a meeting with Garrett (which they do every week by the way) and expressed concerns, some of which are valid. There were several plays last week where one of the three was open and Romo didn't find that person because he didn't go through all of his reads. They have a valid argument to a point, and it's something that Romo is going to have to work on. I think a lot of people forget that Romo is still very much so growing as a QB and is still adjusting to Garrett's system. People expect the most out of him (and rightfully so playing for America's Team), but it's not something that every QB picks up from day one. Having said that, there's no other QB I'd rather have playing for the Cowboys right now, he has the "it" factor, now he just needs to put it all together.

This was not their regular meeting though so its not as easily brushed aside as you want to make it appear. This was not a scheduled WR corp meeting with the OC which they do have every week this was different.

You're right though Romo is still very much growing but I dont think he has the "it" factor. "It" factor QB's don't fall apart year after year in the last month of the season. "It" factor QB's solely win games on their own when they have to. Romo is a very good QB make no mistake about it, but he is not an "It" factor QB, imo.

Yeah, it actually was their regular meeting.

Funny, no one thought Eli or Peyton had the "it" factor for years either, amazing how things change once someone has been in a system for a while isn't it? Your hate is blinding you. BTW, Romo will always be a better QB than your boy, Matt Ryan

You have a lot more patience for Romo than you do other players.

The Cowboys problem is that they always go for the superstar rather than the football player. They go for the big, pretty name rather than the guy who helps teams win.

Too many TOs and not enough Wes Welkers.

So is Romo better than Tyler Thigpen?

It has won them five rings, every single ring has had a "me" player involved that everyone else across the nation just hated. It's how Cowboy football has always been and it's how it always will be. Guess who's up next to own the team once Jerry steps down? Yup, another Jones, his son Stephen; and guess what? He'll continue the tradition, but hey, as long as it wins us rings I could care less. I still don't like Owens though, he's a different kind of "me" player than guys like Irvin, Hollywood, Thomas, etc... were.

Is Romo better than Thigpen? I know that's not a serious question...

The difference with their team now and the team then and the guys like Emmitt, Novacek, Moose, etc. They have left those guys off the current team. There is nobody to get the TOs of the team to STFU when needed.

And no, it was not a serious question. Just as saying Romo will "always" be better than Ryan could not have been serious either.

And it's a problem that Jerry needs to fix. It's no secret to anyone with half a brain that T.O. has a tendency to tear teams apart. That's what makes him different from guys like Irvin, he goes behind people's backs and starts talking crap, then that person starts talking crap, then you start seeing factions within the locker room, then the locker room becomes divided and all hell breaks loose. Irvin just smoked drugs, banged a bunch of women, and partied his ass off. He never once tried to get anyone to turn their back on Aikman because someone else was getting the ball more than him.

Sounds like there are huge problems in Valley Ranch, ESPN is reporting Roy Williams is trying to hunt down Tony Romo to kick his ass! OMG!

"Oh, it's been good," Williams said. "Tony is everybody's guy. He's my guy. I've been trying to get him on that college football online, so I can bust his tail. But I don't have my TVs up in my house yet, so I've gotta wait. But everything is good."
