They asked him several times if he signed a contract and he wouldn't answer the question. He said that "we don't comment on contracts."

This organization is a joke.

They are keeping it quite for a reason. There probably is an understanding that Dickey will finish out the year, but they will agree to a buyout of the contract. This would be the only reason why I could see both sides keeping it hush-hush.

Actually I'm sure it's beacuse they are hoping for a win so they can announce the extension. Wilson does not want to let him walk.

Sounds like Jauron is as anxious for Edwards to play as everyone else. He said he was doing better and almost started with that.

I could see a scenario where Jauronis moved to a FO position.

And you know what - he might be good at that. He does much better when he has time to think rather than making a quick decision.

He'd probably try to call a timeout during the draft.

This is my new dream. Thank you! I have some sort of hope. Because if he signed a contract it better be for this. Otherwise we are totally screwed...

i second this. it makes a lot of sense. Sense in terms of what the Bills would do. It doesn't really make much sense since the drafts with Jauron the 3 years have been terrible and he's a part of it as much as levy. But this is something that could allow Ralph the ability to not eat the entire contract, and gives the Bills a more legitimate GM than Brandon.

I would not call the last three drafts horrible though. Too early, especially last year.

trapezeus
12-15-2008, 01:02 PM
i call them horrible only because the top 3 picks are servicable players. only one can be considered great with Marshawn. No one else is a game changer.

Then in the rounds 4-7, they really haven't found any diamonds in the rough and they certainly haven't given us adequate depth. It's worrisome. But you are right, not enough time has passed. but where we are right now, we've missed on these drafts. and we're drafting the wrong positions.

Questions for Jauron in the Monday Press Conference:

1) JP has had back to back weeks with a 44 passer rating. Any plans to make a change?

2) The opposing team has been able to drive down the field with little resistance on the first drive of the game every week. Is there strategy involved in that?

3) There is no QB pressure when we rush only 4 guys. Is there any thought in bringing more guys than they can block?

4) Do you feel guilty signing the contract?

2006 is litered with mediocrity at best and full on busts at worst.McCargo, Simpson, Ellison, pennington (who was cut last year, right?).

Whitner, butler and youboty are the best on there. ugh.

HHURRICANE

This is the problem with this team. We accept mediocre players as good players.

Whitner and Simpson have both been disappointments. Yobouty can't see the field.

Edwards is still a maybe.

Brad Butler and Kyle Willims are good but not dominant.

Where's the great player in the last 3 drafts?!?!?

What's the big deal with saying yes or no?

No ones asking for numbers.....

Obviously Jauron won't and can't say anything right now because there is some negotiations taking place. I think there is no question that an extension was signed earlier in the year and now things have changed drastically and they are amicably trying to figure out a gentle way out of this for both parties as well as from a PR point of view.

When we were 5-1 it looked like we were ready to cruise to a nice record and make the playoffs and I think it initially appeared to be at a time in the season when it would lift the team even more but things took a turn for the worse and we're at the point now of no return unless Ralph wants to see the stadium 33% full next year.

OpIv37

but after 3 years, Youboty has contributed what- 3 or 4 good games? Whitner isn't bad but there are better players we could have had with those picks. McKelvin has been a playmaker on S/T and looks like he'll become a solid defender, so that one's probably good.

Still, our overall early-round drafting has not been effective. This team doesn't like to go after FA's and really depends on the draft for improvement, and they're going to have to draft a lot better for that to work.

By the way Op I'll bet all of my zonbucks that Jauron remains the coach.

There is no way he's getting a front office job.

Wilson does not want to open that can of worms on selecting a new coach because he won't spend the money and there will be no way he can justify it any other way.

As sure as the sun will rise tommorrow Jauron will be the coach.

Alright, I will bring up their last three drafts and see a comparison. I don't know how this will turn out but at least we can compare how bad we might be.

2008 -
1 - Joe Flacco, QB Delaware
2 - Ray Rice, RB Rutgers
3 - Tavares Gooden, LB Miami (FL) (IR)
4 - Tom Zbikowski, DB Notre Dame (No Long on Team)
5 - Oniel Cousins, G Texas-El Paso
6 - Marcus Smith, WR New Mexico
7 - David Hale, OT Weber State
8 - Haruki Nakamura, DB Cincinnati
9 - Justin Harper, WR Virginia Tech (IR)
10 - Allen Patrick, RB Oklahoma (No Long on Team)
2007
1 - Ben Grubbs, G Auburn
3 - Yamon Figurs, WR Kansas State
3 - Marshall Yanda, G Iowa (IR)
4 - Antwan Barnes, LB Florida International
4 - Le'Ron McClain, RB Alabama
5 - Troy Smith, QB Ohio State
6 - Prescott Burgess, LB Michigan (IR)
2006
1 - Haloti Ngata, DT Oregon
2 - Chris Chester, C Oklahoma
3 - David Pittman, DB Northwestern State (No Long on Team)
4 - Demetrius Williams, WR Oregon (IR)
5 - P.J. Daniels, RB Georgia Tech (IR)
6 - Dawan Landry, DB Georgia Tech (IR)
7 - Quinn Sypniewski, TE Colorado (IR)
8 - Sam Koch P Nebraska,
9 - Derrick Martin, DB Wyomin
10 - Ryan LaCasse, LB Syracuse

How many of these guys do you recognize? Is there maybe two premiere players on that list? And callling Flacco premiere is a HUGE stretch this early. Ngata is the only other big time player out of these drafts so far. Now down the line who the heck knows...

you know it's really sad the twisting and coniving people will go through to bash someone who has perfectly good and sound reasons for what they do. You people are sad and obviously have no clue about management of anything. The reason DJ does not discuss his contract is because he is a leader of men...and some of those men want contract extensions of their own. It would be very inappropriate for DJ to waive a new contract around during the season IMO and his keeping quiet and showing more respect to his players than you blowhards makes perfect sense to me!

A couple of things;

1. Zibs is still on Baltimore he is there #2 SS, and one of their top ST guys.
2. Flacco, Rice, and Zibs have all come up with nice contributions for rookies, not premiere players but good for rookies
3. These are players from their draft Id consider to be good picks (this year not included);
Grubbs
McClain
Ngata
Koch
Chester
Gaither -Supplemental Pick

That's 6 impact players from two drafts, as opposed to our 1. Just saying...

I was talking about players and it's not a good choice to be talking about $$$ or commitments in any place of work. Obviously this is very public and they are getting grilled on it and they have to talk about it...but not during the season. It's particularly insensitive and bad for the culture if you start talking about coaching contract extensions and don't have every player whose contract is up renewed already. That's my stand and I'm sticking with it!

you know it's really sad the twisting and coniving people will go through to bash someone who has perfectly good and sound reasons for what they do.

Yet again, another clueless post by Typo. What the hell is wrong with you?

How do you have Hardy as a D and Fine as a B? You have that backwards. Lynch as an A++, haha. History will show him to be a B player. Your opinion reflects that of a popularity contest, no offense but I don't respect that.

Yes.

It is way too early to call this last draft horrible.

Poz looks ggod.

I disagree.

He has improved in the passing game over the course of the season but the guy cannot shed a block. He gets eaten alive in the run game and swallowed up on blitzes.

I know DiGiorgio is hurt, but I have to wonder why they didn't start DiGi in the middle and move Poz to Ellison's slot. I think that would make the D instantly better.

That would require coaching. Something this team has not had for 11 years now and counting.
