Re: Anyone want MCNABB???
In theory I wouldn't mind it.
In reality, whatever QB we bring in will be competing with Trent for the starting job, and I think McNabb will be very expensive for someone who may not even start.

I would take McNabb in a heartbeat, but I believe Trent will be the starter here. I have not given up on him.

But I don't think the FO wants to bring in an FA who can start. I think they want to bring in an FA who can motivate Edwards, both by mentoring him and by pushing him for the starting job, but stops short of actually winning the job. Someone like McNabb is at the end of this career. They don't want a stop-gap. They want to develop Edwards into a franchise QB.
So, to answer your question, I don't think Edwards is better than McNabb, but I think Edwards would start over McNabb (if McNabb came to Buffalo) for other reasons.

Re: Anyone want MCNABB???
I can't even say I'd disagree with Edwards starting over McNabb. McNabb would not be here long enough to take us anywhere."'Clean up your room.', 'Stand up straight.', 'Pick up your feet.', 'Take it like a man.', 'Be nice to your sister.', 'Don't mix beer and wine, ever.'. Oh yeah, 'Don't drive on the railroad track.'"
"Eh, Phil. That's one I happen to agree with."

Re: Anyone want MCNABB???
Trent would start over any vet we bring in. We're not going to abandon Trent's developement which was hindered by a very nasty concussion this year.
However if Trent proves to be unable to stay healthy having Mcnabb would be awesome. But lets face it McNabb ain't going to any team he isn't guarenteed of starting for.
Mcnabb would be an good MentorLast edited by ddaryl; 12-16-2008, 09:59 AM.

Re: Anyone want MCNABB???
mcnabb's injury problems worry me. i know Trent is injury prone at this point too, but trent isn't on the wrong side of 30, so he'll technically heal faster.
Mcnabb's positive is that for the last 3 years he hasn't had anyone to throw to and has hung in there.
plus mcnabb's eagles are kind of a dark horse rightnow. if he sneaks them into the playoffs and does well without the pressure of having to deliver, the city of philadelphia may be enamored to keep him.

Re: Anyone want MCNABB???
McNabb is one of the top QBs in football, a high character guy, and is miles ahead of Trent at this stage. I would take him in a heartbeat.Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Besides the Bills, the one team I regularly follow is the Eagles. I have been watching McNabb for years. While McNabb isn't as consistent as Manning or Brady, he's one of the best.
The one thing I fault the Eagles for is that they never gave McNabb enough playmakers at WR (besides TO). If TO and McNabb played their careers together, IMO, we would be talking about McNabb as a sure-fire hall of famer.
