IRVING - Owner Jerry Jones might be out of the business of predicting Cowboys records, but Bobby Knight is the king of treading where others won't.
The Texas Tech coach predicted the Cowboys will win nine games this year. He bases this not on what he sees as Chad Hutchinson's booming potential or cornerback Terence Newman's impact of the defense but on the mere presence of his good friend, Bill Parcells, as the coach of the Cowboys.
"I think he brings that much to the table," Knight said Tuesday from NextStage in Grand Prairie where he and Parcells were on hand for a question-and-answer fund-raiser that benefited the Texas Tech Scholarship fund.
"What did they win five games last year? I really think he will win nine."
Knight and Parcells go back, way back to when both were young coaches at West Point in the late 1960s. They knew each other when, so to speak.
