Modrak, a Pittsburgh native who worked 20 years for the Steelers in various front-office capacities, left as their college scouting coordinator in 1998 to become the Eagles' boss. He is in Hawaii for Hula Bowl workouts and did not return messages. Modrak had a good relationship with Cowher and that is something the Steelers are striving to build between their coach and a new personnel man after the contentious Cowher-Donahoe relationship.

Modrak commands much respect throughout the Steelers organization. Cowher and Modrak have kept in contact since Modrak went to work in Philadelphia. The Rooneys said Friday that Cowher will talk to candidates before Donahoe's successor is hired.

Seems like a perfect fit... Mordak and Russ as assistant GMs and Cowher with all personnel decisions and as head coach.

Wow. Right over the head. You guys are getting all hot and bothered over an article that is 8 years old. It's about Modrak going back to Pittsburgh to work with Cowher, which he didn't do. Talk about grasping at straws.

It certainly could but that isn't the point. Some are thinking the above article is news that Cowher could be coming to Buffalo which it obviously is not.

There is a respect for eachother, no one said COwher is coming to Buffalo. But, if Modrak is the new GM or something like that, he can pick up the phone and call Cowher and Cowher would listen.

If Russ Brandon calls Cowher he probably hangs up on him.

it isn't news. It just points out that a bills FO has ties with Cowher. I don't think it'll ever happen but what there to talk about? Our playoff games?

Cowher could be Coach/GM, with Modrak being his Asst. GM/ director of scouting (like he is now). Modrak built a house in Jacksonville, FL & is still traveling to scout, which is his preference.

Of course it's a 10,000-1 shot (Thank you disciples of Capt. Obvious) due to Ralph asking his driver to pull over because he thought he saw a shiny penny by the curb.

The only hope for Cowher is Modrak telling Ralph at the post season Florida meeting that Cowher would come if he would offer him 8-9 Mil a year and complete control.

WTF does a 90 year old owner with multi millions in the bank have to lose ? It would restore his standing among fans for eternity, for sure.

Will he do it ? Probably not but it's fun to dream.
